In case you did not receive this previously, since many email addresses were
undeliverable, here is the latest news on the Clay Family Gathering 2.
Thank you all so very much for helping make The Clay Family Gathering - 1
a success. The plans are moving along nicely for CFG - 2.
We have booked the Campbell House Inn in Lexington, KY for June 28, 29, 30
in 2002 for the 2nd Clay Family Gathering. We are in the process of making
arrangements to tour White Hall (home of Cassius Clay) Sunday morning with
possibly a lunch, and a tour of Ashland (home of Senator Henry Clay) in the
afternoon. We also "may" be able to visit one of the Clay farms in the area.
Details will be forthcoming in a later update. The event format will be
similar to CFG -1, with presentations on Friday and Saturday, with Sunday
reserved for visits to local historical sites.
As for the formation of the family organization. The Steering Committee
is acquiring the appropriate information to develop a formal Clay Family
Gathering Society, with a Journal/newsletter, etc. The information obtained
by each member will be presented, discussed and developed at the Steering
committee meeting later this year. There is a lot to be considered and we
expect to have a solid plan to present to the body as a whole when we meet in
Lexington. As was decided at CFG -1, we will vote on the acceptance of the
recommendation of the steering committee at the next gathering. A decision
on all of the above, will not be decided on until the vote in June.
To ensure that you receive timely information on the Gathering and Clay
Family
Society plans, as well as a registration packet, please make sure we have
a valid mailing AND email address for you. If you know of anyone that would
like to receive a registration form, please send their name and address or
any updates to Karen, Nancy or Judy.
As plans are finalized, we will continue to update you and we look to
forward to seeing you at CFG - 2.
