Clay? I have it he married Mary Clay, daughter of Mitchell Clay and Phoebe
Belcher. I descend from both wives of Ralph Stewart--Mary Elliot and Mary
Clay. I have always known it to be MARY Clay. Rose

Sandy,
I am sorry I don't have a name for the father of James STEWART. I am still
looking for his parents. I have had some doubts about the origin of the
family being in Ireland, since STEWART is a predominately Scottish surname.
Do you have proof of this family having their origin in Ireland?

I've been reading the posting on the Clay-Stewart line and would like to
know which Tabitha Clay this is. I have only daughter of Mitchell and
Phoebe and also a daughter of Henry Clay, son of Phoebe and Mitchell. I
show Absolum Stewart married to Tabitha, but no information. Diane Bingham

Kevin,
I would love to have a copy of the document from King Charles to James and
Ralph LAFFERTY. I descend from both James and Ralph. I will be more than
happy to pay for copies and postage.
It appears that the LAFFERTY's and STEWART's knew each other well in Ireland
since Ralph LAFFERTY married Elizabeth STEWART, a sister to James STEWART who
married Mary Ann LAFFERTY. Does anyone know when these families traveled to
the New World?

Where did the information originate that lists the possible parentage of
James Stewart, husband to Mary Lafferty & father to Capt. Ralph Stewart, as
John Stewart (born circa 1680 in Scotland) & Judith?

If you use aol you will probably have to copy and paste.
This site was mentioned on another Rootsweb list I subscribe to, and I found
several of my ancestors who had received land from the Federal government.
The site provides dates and exact locations, and you can view and print the
original patent.
There are many Clay patents. None of the 13 original colonies are listed,
but you
might find a clue to an ancestor who went to AL, MO, AR, OH, IL, OK etc.

No, Diane, that is fine, we are just going to have separate registration
times for the hotel people so they can have their continental breakfast
together, and everyone that is staying elsewhere. Sure will be glad when it
gets here, we sure have been planning this a long time! I am getting excited!
Take care, Gynger
