I am looking for information on an Orville Clay. My spelling may be wrong on Orville. He and my grandmother had a child together named Richard who only lived a few hours. Richard is buried in Glencoe, Oklahoma. We believe Orville and my grandmother were married, but have no proof of this. They met in Parsons, Kansas while she was attending Senior High School and he was in Junior College (These were both in the same building). My grandma is still alive, but in a nursing home and to the point where we can't really put faith in anything she tells us, so I can't ask her for any more details. I do know that Richard was born around 1929, when my grandma was about 15 or 16. Any information would be appreciated.

Barbara,
Saw your letter on Clay forum. I think I have seen your querys before. Your
Inman and Spence lines get my attention. There was a Spence Inmon in
Indpendence Co, AR who was a least associated with my Gilliam and Stone
families is not related. I feel like the Clays must have been related to my
Birmingham family. My great Aunt Edner Gilliam Birmingham named her children
Clay names. In fact one was Clay Birmingham. Also had a Truman, Imogene
and Wilma Lee, Vernard, Euless, Boyce Dee. There was a Clay family in
Independence Co at one time.

If you descend from Johan Nicholas Klee, you may want to take a look at an
article I added to my Twigs of Inman & Spence online journal:

My great grandfather, Levi Clay, who lived in Adair, Iowa for many years, had
an exciting experience there in 1873 that you may be interested in reading
about.

I need to supply some more information on my previous request for identification of Cypress Creek in Kentucky.
A lease agreement recorded 28 May 1827 at the Calloway County Court House describes a tract of land being.......... 'situated near the (unable to make out word - could be north-) fork of Cypress Creek, then in the county of Livingston but now in the county of Calloway'.....
I regret that I do not know enough of Kentucky's history to be able to identify this area. This land is owned by GREEN (?) CLAY and is being leased to William Cooper for 4 years.
I am also looking for information on this William Cooper. There is a possibility that he is a son of Henry Cooper born abt 1760 in Virginia. Henry and family moved to Montgomery County, KY (Clark/Burbon) in 1787. A son, Richmond and a daughter Sally who married John James are known to have moved to the Calloway County area abt 1832. Hints point to other family members being in this area but nothing concrete is developing. Calloway County records that could have supported this hypothesis probably were destroyed by fire.
Thanks very much,
Roger Cooper
