Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I'm new to this list and am trying to find ancestors of
Thomas Bedford Clay
b. 1886 in Honey Grove, Texas
d. 1928 in Pueblo, Colorado
Married
Lou Ella Dutcher
b. 1886 in Elden, Barnett County, Missouri

Can anyone help me?
Thanks
Melvin Vinson
I am very interested in the story if the descendent who wrote it was also a
descendent of Mary Clay who married Ralph Stewart. Thanks very much, Rose

I'm not sure if you're talking about the story I have, but about 5-6 years
ago, I copied a story written by one of Patience Clay's descendents, from
the Prodigy files. I have that story and have sent it as a file to several
Clay descendants who were interested. I don't know if this is the one, but
I think I can dredge up the story if you are interested. Let me know.

Thank you Sandra. Frankly, your information seems much
more credible than what I had. I obtained this
information in the early days of my research and will
have to try to resurect the source of it.

Hi,Your note has added quite a bit of information to what I had previously. To add a little more, I show John Clay (b:1712) to have married (unknown date) Sarah Chappel. They had a daughter, Amey, who married a "unknown Clement".Regarding John's marriage dates, the first (1762), appears to be rather late in his life (50 years old), and the second (1844), must be a typographical error.Thanks for the info.Tom--- SandraG627(a)aol.com wrote:> In a message dated 8/6/00 8:23:15 PM Eastern> Daylight Time, kathy(a)katsoft.com > writes: ........................... ...........................> .... 2 John Clay b: 1712 in Prince George> Co., VA d: 1782 > > ........ +Sarah Unknown m: 1762 > Father: Mother: > .... *2nd Wife of John Clay: > > ........ +Sarah Tucker m: 1844 d: in> Amelia Co., VA ........................... .....!

Alban CLAY, b. 3/13/1841, in Parker Ford, Chester Co., PA to James CLAY, b.
abt. 1814 in PA and Margaret SCHLONECKER, b. abt. 1815 in PA, d. ca. 1900; m.
11/24/1864 Sarah Ann LOTT at Bridgeton, Cumberland Co., NJ; d. 5/9/1927,
Pottstown, Montgomery Co., PA. I believe that Sarah predeceased Alban.
Children as follows (all b. in PA):
Margaret, b. 8/17/1865
William L., b. 5/21/1867
James R., b. 11/6/1870
Catherine K., b. 7/13/1872, d. 7/13/1906
Alban Jr., b. 3/3/1875
Alban was almost totally blinded by cataracts. He also suffered from lumbago
that was a result of falling off a horse during the War. At any rate, by the
time he died, he was earning the highest pension that could be paid--$90.
At the time of his enlistment, Alban was listed as being light complected,
having dark hair and hazel eyes. His occupation is listed as Farmer. He was
discharged at Harrisburg, PA, September 29, 1864.
Alban also seemed to move around quite often. At the time of his death, he
was residing at 432 Walnut St in Pottstown. He might have been living with
one of his children. I do know that he was not capable of living alone.
Based on his requests for increases in pension, his residences were as
follows:
1864-1875--Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co., PA
1875-1896--Westmont, Camden Co., NJ
1896--112 Washington St., Pottstown, Montgomery Co., PA
1897--507 Walnut St., Pottstown, Montgomery Co., PA
1906--Westmont, Camden Co., NJ
1911--343 Chestnut St., Pottstown, Montgomery Co., PA
1915--343 Chestnut St., Pottstown, Montgomery Co., PA
1921--432 Walnut St., Pottstown, Montgomery Co., PA
1927--432 Walnut St., Pottstown, Montgomery Co., PA
I know that some of those dates are intertwined, but that's the only way I
can figure it out based on the pension requests.
Again, any information on this family would be appreciated. Alban is brother
to my G-G-Grandmother Elmira CLAY LOTT, who lived in Westmont, Camden Co., NJ
at the same time as Alban during the earlier time period.
Thanks!
