Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Dear List Members,
I have not seen my sons, Jason Lee Clay and Benjamin Ellis Clay, since a
few months after their mother, Lenita (Lennie) Dove Gentry, and I
separated in 1977. I do not know if she has remarried and, if so, if my
boys have been given her new married name.
I would like very much to find them. Jason was born in 1976 and
Benjamin on April 1, 1977. They were both born in Dallas, Texas, and we
were living in a rural area near Garland, Texas at the time of
Benjamin's birth.
We have been searching for the boys for quite some time without any
success. Any help in finding them would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Ken Clay

The only information that I have on him is from his daughters death
certificate (my great great grandmothers) so it only lists PA. I have not
had a chance to do any census work as of yet. I hope to get to a Family
History Center soon and try to remedy this situation. My gggrandmother lived
in Philadelphia and died in Camden NJ. She is buried in Mt Moriah Cemetery
in Philly area.

In an attempt to continue researching my Clay ancestry I requested a SS#
Application on a person whom I thought I was related. Come to find out I'm
not... or at least that I know of now.
I have a copy of the SS# Application for GUY HENRY CLAY born: 6-21-1886 in
Stuart, Guthrie (?) County, Iowa. Parents listed as Henry Clay and Jennie
Carrey Clay. He was white. He was 50 years old and living in Grand
Prairie, Texas (between Dallas & Fort Worth) in 1936 at the time of
application. Also mentions an employer of Farrar Lumber Co. in Houston,
Texas. Houston and Grand Prairie are about 5 hours away from each other so
that is either the corporate office address or he was moving that direction.
If anyone is tracing this line I'd be happy to get you a copy of this
certificate.
Thanks,
John

Jackie,
I'm sure the bulk of the people understand what you are saying and agree
with you. Don't let the few stop you of get to you. These lists are wonderful
places to communicate and learn more about our ancestors and its people like
you that make that possible.

Hi,
I insitigated the whole table mess, because: 1. the List does not
accept "odd" formats like Word 97, tables etc. 2. Trying to be
helpful I asked list members to e mail me, not the list, with
requests. 3. People are notoriously bad at following directions, so
of course they emailed the list instead. 4. I have been trying to
respond, but list members do not realise that their email addresses
are not listed when they post a message.
I know this is a pain to read, if you are not interested in this
aspect, but I think it is mean-spirited to complain, when I have not,
although the burden to follow up falls on me. All you have to do is
delete a message with a subject you are not interested in.
Lighten up, people.
Jackie
Hi everyone - Just a thought about the use of this list. You never know
when something is going to click. Even if it's a pain, read everything,
then just hit the delete key. If you're too busy for that, you're too busy.
Diane Bingham
Hello list,
I too have requested the CLAY table when it was first mentioned on this list
as of
this date I have not received any such list. Could it be there is no CLAY
table to
be had?

Actually I may well be related... I just thought it would be easier to send
it out to the entire list rather than have all 8 million subscribers (some
day!) ask for it individually. That's all. Thanks for the continuing
information. JOHN

What I dislike the most is subject headings like this, which means I cannot
delete w/o reading b/c it might me about my line...
I'm searching for information on James Clay of Pennsylvania. The only
information I have on him is on my 3rd great grandmothers death certificate
and her name was Elmira b 31 May 1846 in Pennsylvania. I have a maiden name
for james wife SCHLONAKER birthplace unknown. If you have any possible link
I would love to hear. I have some information that Elmira had 2 brothers and
possibly a sister.

I keep asking for any and all information on Samuel M. (Mitchell or
Matthew) Clay. Maybe I'd fare better if I dropped back one generation.
Samuel aka Samuel Green Clay (16 May 1743 Goochland Co., VA - 1809
Granville Co., NC) m. (29 Jul 1782 Halifax Co., VA) Martha 'Patsy' Wall,
daughter of David Wall and his wife whose maiden name was Scoggins.
Their children: Sophia who married Henry Moore Clay; Elizabeth 'Betsy'
who married William McGehee; Sarah 'Sallly' G. who married Col. Thomas
Cooke; William H.; Samuel M.; John; Robert W.; James; Mary 'Polly' who
married Zachariah Samuel; Doctor Green; and Lewis A. The children are
taken from Samuel Green Clay's will.
Samuel M. and Lewis A. moved to Limestone Co., AL. It's the wife and
children of Samuel M. that interest me the most, altho I'd be very happy
to have any and all information on this family. My main blanks are the
maiden name of Samuel's wife Mourning, the names of their children and
the first name of ______ Scoggins.
I'm descended from Samuel M. and Mourning ( ) Clay's daughter Martha
Adline Clay who married Thomas Redus. Adline had a brother (Andrew?)
and two older sisters. Samuel married (2) Eliza Henderson.
Mary Anne Rick
While I'm just as tired of all the list requests and before that the
reunion, that's what this place is for. I can't help asking the
question - where is all the other traffic? If you have a question or
information to share, put it up here. Apparently, the descendants of
William Mitchell Clay are a larger group than descendants of other
Clays. And there's more genealogy interest in their group.
There is one solution (which I don't recommend). You can get a special
e-mail group going on another forum that would only be for the WM Clay
descendants. We have such a group for the descendants of Jonathan Adams
of Limestone Co., AL. However, this sort of thing keeps the knowledge
within a small group. It's fine for in-depth research (which we are
doing) but you need to make sure the knowledge becomes widely dispersed
to prevent others from having to redo the work.
Mary Anne Rick
Hmmm, let me guess. You are not related to the folks whose "table" is being
discussed?
Odd that these issues usually come down to "whose ox is being gored"

With all this table traffic... can't we make just one exception and send it
to the entire list<!>???? This e-mail is getting a bit overwhelming. Ok,
ok, I know it will end soon but just had to make the suggestion. Thanks all
for the information that currently comes through here. I, for one,
appreciate it! JOHN
