Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I met my deadline. My father's Inman, Clay, Hoy, Waiste, Lee, Stillians,
etc. etc. etc. Pedigree Charts are now officially loaded onto my "Twigs of
Inman & Spence" website. I wanted to have them on there before the
millenium rolled over, and I made it. You will find an index of surnames in
the news area. The pedigree charts are in the file cabinet, and the
documentation for each chart is in the description area on the cover page.
I decided to put them in the file cabinet so that I can handle them better.
Now that his line is finished, I will turn my attention to my mothers
SPENCE, SPENCER, HOOD, KESSLER, WING, HOPPER, COFFMAN, etc. etc. lines. I
need to enter her data into my program first, and then her pedigree charts
will all be loaded onto the website. I probably won't start that effort
until after the first of the year.
Meanwhile, enjoy my father's charts!

Hi, this is my initial post to this mailing list. My connection to the
Clay name is Ursula. What I'm looking for is Ursula's family.
The information I have so far is very sketchy:
Ursula CLAY, b. about 1804 in NY, m.George Snyder there then moved to
Calhoun Co., MI, d. 1863 in Calhoun Co., MI. We found her in the census
in Clarence Twp., Calhoun Co., MI for 1850.
Their children:
Louisa (m.Andrew Doolittle)
Unknown Daughter (m. Ezra Milliman)
Charity (m.Andrew Doolittle; m.Joseph M. Snyder)
Phillip
William
Any further information on Ursula, her siblings, or her parents would be
appreciated. We have information on descendents through Louisa we're more
than willing to share.
Thanks, Linda Lance

Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our U.S. service men
and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities. Let's try in
this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe.

This is to introduce myself and to let you all know of my research
interests re: the CLAY family. My mother's maiden name was CLAY and
about 15 years ago I managed to trace back to a couple in Wirksworth
(in Derbyshire, UK) named Benjamin CLAY and Elizabeth BARTON. Their
eldest son was named James Barton CLAY and was born in 1787. He had
three marriages and nine children, seven of whom survived to
adulthood. Apart from having the names of these children and details
of the line leading to my mother, I had nothing else until earlier
this year, when I made contact, via the internet, with a distant
relative who gave me the rest of the line back to the mid 1600s. This
reawakened my interest in family history and I have made it a special
project to trace as many descendents of JBC's children as possible,
with a particular wish to find someone alive today who still bears the
surname (it has died out in my mother's line).
A summary of my results so far follows :
1) Only four of the seven surviving children appear to have had
children of their own.
2) Sarah CLAY married William PINDER in Belper, Derbyshire and had
five children.
3) Joseph CLAY moved to Birmingham, UK and had two daughters and a
son - I have no record of them past the 1881 census as yet, though I
know from a family will that the three children were still alive in
1904.
4) William CLAY ended his days in Leicester, UK and had eight
children, but I have only managed to find evidence of three having
children of their own. The most promising lead to find a male CLAY
lies with this line - William's youngest son Samuel Barton CLAY died
in 1899 but was married for over 10 years so I am hoping he fathered
at least 4 or 5 children.
5) Samuel CLAY was my direct ancestor; as I said before he has no male
descendents bearing his surname - the last of the line having died in
the first world war.
Sorry about the length of this. If anyone has a link to this family
please get in touch. Also please visit my website - it includes
photographs of some of the CLAY family which were taken between 80 and
120 years ago.

I have just recently subscribed to the Clay -L- request forum. The first
query I read mentioned the Spence and Innmon families. To you know of
Spence Innmon in Independence Co, AR?

The pedigree charts I am currently putting on my
"Twigs of Inman & Spence" website belong to my
father's ancestors (thanks to the efforts of my cousin
who did this Inman/Waiste/Carpenter/Clay etc. research
so many years ago. I have few gaps on my father's
line and my old PAF is fairly complete as far as the
paternal ancestors are concerned.
Once I have my father's ancestors all onboard, then I
need to update my PAF with some of the recent
discoveries I have made on my mother's
Spence/Spencer/Hopper/Kessler/Hood/etc. lines. After
I update my PAF, those charts will be loaded onto the
site, and I will post a separate Index for my mother's
ancestors.
While I'm on the topic, I have moved documentation for
these records from the News section of the website to
the file cabinet. The information sheets for the
pedigree charts now contain documentation.
