Hi Folks,
I wonder if Elijah could be the one in this family?? He would have died
young, which might explain the few children. Any ideas?
1. Henry CLAY II. (son of Henry CLAY and Mary MITCHELL) was born on 3 SEP
1711 in Chesterfield Co., VA. He died before 19 MAY 1764. He was married to
Lucy GREEN (daughter of Thomas GREEN III. and Elizabeth MARSTON) in 1735 in
Cumberland Co., VA. Lucy GREEN was born on 19 JUL 1717 in Cumberland Co., VA.
She died in 1805 in Powhatan Co., VA. Henry CLAY II. and Lucy GREEN had the
following children:
+2 i. Henry CLAY III..
3 ii. Charles CLAY was born on 3 JUL 1740.
4 iii. Samuel CLAY was born on 16 MAY 1743. He was christened in 1789.
+5 iv. Thomas CLAY.
+6 v. Abia CLAY.
+7 vi. Marston CLAY.
+8 vii. Rebecca CLAY.
9 viii. John CLAY was born on 14 DEC 1754. He was christened in 1777.
+10 ix. Lucy CLAY.
11 x. Elijah CLAY was born on 27 AUG 1759.

Anyone out there that has this CLAY line? I have a CLAY and FORESTER
line. This isn't my CLAY line, but if this Robert FORESTER is not my
line, I have knowledge of it. This Charles FORESTER'S son, Robert
had a son, Henry Clay FORESTER b. 1841. Don't know for sure there
was a CLAY and FORESTER marriage, but could be! I'll share info I
have, if anyone is interested.

Do you have any in formation on where James L. Clay came from or who
were his parents, any siblings, where is he buried?
Contact Robert Young Clay at the Archives of Virginia in Richmond. He has
done extensive research on the Clays and knows more than anyone I've come in
contact with. He probably will be able to help you. Good luck and keep me
posted on your progress. I seem to remember that name in some of my info. But
I'm not sure. Sincerely,
Nancy Acord-Greathouse
Greetings,
I'm researching CLAY's in three main areas. The Wirksworth CLAY's begin
with the church records in the early 1600's. Around 1800, James CLAY(
s/o Henry CLAY and Elizabeth MASKREY) moved to Leicester with his wife
Cassandra WHEATCROFT, raising their family there. Their son John CLAY at
age 15 joined the 52nd Regiment of Foot, served in Ireland where he met
and married Mary Ann MCNICHOL (probably near Dungannon), then was
stationed in Canada, where he transferred to the Royal Canadian Rifle
Regiment (RCRR). He eventually settled in Puslinch outside Guelph.
His descendents include:
John CLAY b abt 1839 (also in the RCRR)
George CLAY b abt 1840 h/o Hannah ?
Catherine CLAY b abt 1844
William CLAY b 11 Apr 1847 h/o Elizabeth ROBERTS (my ancesors)
Rebecca CLAY b 18 Apr 1850 w/o Robert ROBERTSON
Henry CLAY b abt 1854 h/o Jesse STRACHAN
James CLAY b abt 1855 h/o Annie AMBRIDGE

Hi Linda,
Do you have a Lucy Clay in your AR Clays? The time period is about right
for my Lucy to be a sister to your Clays. I have no information on her or
her family. She lived in Union County, Ar with her husband Ben McKnight.
When he died, her family moved her towards the Hot Springs area.
Thanks!

Hello everyone,
I am looking for any information on RHONDA CLAY. The only info I have at
this time is she was the wife of Bachelor GRAVES. They were married on 28
Oct, 1784 in Amelia County, VA. She was born about 1764 in VA and died 22
Mar 1829 in Wilson County, TN.
Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.
Happy Hunting,
Ken
We are trying to find descendants of a Clay family in Arkansas. Most of the
children seem to have just disappeared. We have found descendants of only 2
of the 11 children of the following Jesse Clay family:
JESSE CLAY (b c1804 GA) and SUSANNAH TUBBS (b c1809 TN) were in Ouachita Co.
in 1860, but it appears that they (or at least some of their children) were in
COLUMBIA CO. from c1865 on.
We cannot find Jesse & Susannah, nor several of their children in 1870. But,
one of their daughters, Delilah E. Clay (b 1834 MS) married Joseph Hare in
1866 in Columbia Co. And many years later we find Jesse & Susannah's youngest
son, Matthew T. Clay (b c1847 in Ouachita Co.) married Ella Busby in 1892 in
Magnolia, Columbia Co.
Children of Jesse & Susannah were:
1. Samuel (b c1825 AL). Married Elizabeth _____, c1856 prob. TX. Sons Jesse, b
c1857 TX; and James, b April 1860 AR. Cannot find Samuel & family after 1860.
Where were they?
2. (unknown female b c1825 in AL)
3. Mary T. Clay, b c1831 MS. Married William W. RUSSELL, 1846 in Hempstead
Co., but perhaps marriage was annulled or a divorce, because Mary is listed as
single, with her parents & siblings in 1850.
4. Delilah Clay, b 1834 MS. Married Joseph HARE, 1866 Columbia Co., AR.
5. Henry Clay, b c1836 AR.
6. Minerva A. Clay, b c1838 AR. Married cousin William Wiley Clay, prob. c1858
in AR. Children all b in AR: James A., b 1859; female M. A., b c1863; and
Alice K., b c1868. Cannot find this family after 1870. Where were they?
7. Jesse Clay, Jr., b c1840 AR.
8. James Clay, b c1842 AR.
9. Young G. Clay, b c1843 AR.
10. Matthew T. Clay, b c1847 AR. Married Ella BUSBY, 1892 Columbia Co., AR.
11. Orlena Clay, b c1853 in Ouachita Co.
Any help, any piece of info about this CLAY family would be appreciated. Thank
you.
Rita Litchfield
He could be the same one but our John C. Clay said he was from Virginia. Or so
family stories say. What was your John C. Clay's parents names? We don't
really know but our John named his son Charles. We thought it could have been
after HIS father and that could have been his father's name. But you never
know. Anyhow, thanks for any help you can give. Myra clay MYVER(a)aol.com
Any of you Clay families know of a Carol Ann and John Andrew Clay Jr..
Their parents were John Andrew Clay Sr. Dora Lee Creech Clay.
You see in 1942 my mother Norma Jean Sanderson Reeves had a daughter she
named Carol Ann and she was forced to give her up for adoption.
Now I don't know if my mother named the child Carol Ann or the adoptive
parents. Some people in KS and MO have helped me and they traced down an
announcement in the paper that Carol Ann Clay was born on September 28, 1942
in Kansas City MO. The name and timeing is so right for my sister. Our
parents are deceased but I so want to find my sister.
However, I can't seem to find a way to find out Carol Ann Clay's married
name to see if she is my sister (no John Jr. will not give me that info as
he does not believe his sister was adopted).
Hope someone can help as I so want to find my sister while I can and share
my wonderful kids and grandkids with her.
Thank you
Jacque

Our John (C.) Clay married Adelaide Coulon Devilliers in Opelousas, LA in
1839. He said he was from Virginia. We don't know his parents name or really
anything about him before that. He was very secretive about his past and, to
make matters worse, left abruptly around 1845. Nothing was heard about him
until 1870 when he came for a brief visit with his children. Nothing more was
heard from him after he left. We believe John was born around 1796 in Virginia
but have NO documentation on any of this. I believe someone, somewhere must
have a clue to this elusive gentleman and hope the internet helps us in our
search. If anyone ties into him we have full information from 1839 to the
present. Thanks for any help. Myra Clay MYVER(a)aol.com
