Dear Clays,
Be it hereby noted that my husband, Kenneth Wayne Clay, was
officially bitten by the genealogy bug yesterday, Sunday, June 29, 1997.
(He couldn't sleep because he was too keyed up thinking about
Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, and Nottinghamshire... :-))
I told him there was no known antidote or cure.
Your cousin-in-law,
Renee
Ah, Sandy, I was AFRAID someone would ask me where I got it. I was
visiting my brother in Princeton NJ & we stopped by a store that is part
of a chain (like the Barnes & Noble superstores), unfortunately, I was
not familiar iwth the chain, & can't recall the name. I think it was
something like Border Books or Crossland Books.
The cost was about $30.00

Dear Ned,
Where were you able to get the book from and what is the price? Thanks.
Sincerely,

Hello Clay Researchers,
Last weekend I discovered a new book that may be of interest. It's the
edited letters of members of the Brutus Junius Clay branch of the family,
from the period of about 1840 to the close of the Civil War.
Title: "Voices from the Century Before"
Author: Mary Clay Berry (a cousin!)
Publisher: Arcade Publishing, NY 1997
I got the book last week & haven't read much of it yet. And for the
record, no, I've got no stake in the book & had never heard of Mary
before stumbling on the book.

Jane Shaputis was kind enough to send me the url for her website - it
contains a wealth of well-documented information that would be of interest
to those researching the Virginia Clays - if you have web access go to
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/6025/ - you'll be amply
rewarded.
In other circumstances I might be reluctant to send you there
because while you're absorbed in that information you're not likely to be
posting to this list - however, based upon activity we all seem to be
absorbed in other matters, maybe people will find something there to start
their posting juices flowing.
Seriously, if any of you have ideas on how to increase (improve) activity on
the list please send me a e-mail - I'm willing to try anything.
