Hi, Lyndon. I saved your query of 3 weeks ago to answer when I could.
Sorry it's been so long.
We have the same Clay line.Your Charles was born in Henrico Co, VA,
1674-1684, to Dr. Charles Clay and Hannah Wilson, the daughter of John
Wilson, Sr. I descend from Charles' brother, Henry Clay I, who married
Mary Mitchell, the daughter of William Mitchell and Elizabeth Innes of
Chesterfield Co, VA. Some say your Sarah was Mary Mitchell's sister.
The father of Dr. Charles Clay was Capt. John Clay who arrived in
Jamestown on the Treasurer 16 Feb 1613. His wife Anne arrived on the
Ann in August of 1623. There is some disagreement as to whether or not
there was another generation (another John) between Capt. John and Dr.
Charles. Although my research shows that Capt. John was born in Kent,
England in June of 1586, his father (also John) was a coal baron in
Wales.
I hope this is helpful.
Karen
Hi, everyone: This is a bit off-topic, so please forgive me of it's not of
interest. But many of us descend from one of those Anglican settlers of
Jamestown, John Clay, so I thought I'd pass this along.
Cheers,
Ned

As one of John Clay's descendants and a member of the Jamestowne Society
through this line, I thank you.
Karen
I descend from Charles Clay and wife Sarah. Charles wrote his will in 1754
Chesterfield Co. Va. Children were james, Judith, Henry, Thomas and Mary.
Judith is my line. She married Thomas Farley around 1754 Chesterfield Co.
Va. They moved to Montgomery Co. Va. where they both died. Had son Clay
Farley who moved to Barren Co. Ky. He married Letty Carter. They had
daughter Judith who married Henry Lewis Pedigo and lived in Barren Co. Ky.
Would like to know more about the Clay family.
