Hi Andy,
I'm catching up on e-mails as I've been away.
I don't know if you are aware or not, but there is a Claxton surname DNA for
genealogy project. So many of the Claxton/Clarkson families are having
problems connecting, especially back across the pond. If you are
interested, we'd certainly welcomt you to the project. If you need more
info, I'd be glad to send it. The project is at
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Clarkson-Claxton.

Subject: [CLAXTON] My CLAXTON line
Hi,
I have just registered to the list and am posting brief details of my
CLAXTON line.
My 2*Great Grandfather was Thomas CLAXTON born about 1804. He married Jane
Elizabeth LAVENDER in 1832 at St Nicholas parish church, South Ockendon,
Essex (England). Their first child, William Thomas my Great Grandfather,
was baptised at the Independent Church at South Ockendon in 1833 who married
Mary Ann CLARK at Gravesend, Kent (England) in 1861. My Grandfather was
Frederick Daniel born 1875 in Romford, Essex, and he married Martha Anne
CHEEK at Hornchurch, Essex, in 1902.
Thomas and Jane Elizabeth CLAXTON lived in Canterbury during the late 1830s
and throughout the 1840s where they had 8 further children; 5 of whom died
there before 1849. Jane Elizabeth also died there of Typhus in 1849.
Thomas returned to South Ockendon, with the surviving children, where he
died in 1851.
On the parish records the banns and marriage for Thomas CLAXTON he is
recorded as being 'from Stifford parish' (Stifford was a small village a few
miles from South Ockendon) yet there is no record of any CLAXTON in the
christening, marriage or burial records.
I am keen to trace details of Thomas's parents.
Andy Claxton
