I have been researching the Claxtons of Ely and the surrounding area for some time and I have just been sent around 150 photos which were discovered in Canada in a box
marked Claxton Photos. Amongst these are two studio pictures taken around the turn of the century of what I believe may be George Henry CLAXTON Christened: 13 Jul 1873 Bridlington Quay, Yorkshire, England and what I assume to be his wife. The pictures are done by Boak and Sons, Bridlington Quay, Driffield and Molton. These pictures would have all been sent from Ely to relations in Canada.
I would be interested to hear from anyone researching this part of the Claxton clan. There are several other portrait type pictures in the collection from Liverpool, Spalding,
Deighton Yorkshire,Leamington and Preston although I can't be sure they are all Claxtons.
