Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
These are two obitiuaries found today (newspaper unknown) and were in a
scrapbook of obits at Clayton Genealogical Library, Houston, TX. (Source
and names after next trip there)
MRS. JIM (EMMA) CLAXTON - paper dated 17 Jan 1969
"Services for Mrs. Jim (Emma) Claxton, 86, of Atlanta, Ga., formerly
of Bell Buckle, will be at 11:30 a. m. Saturday at H. M. Patterson Funeral
Home, Cascade Hills, Atlanta. Burial will be there.
Mrs. Claxton, a native of Bedford County, died Thursday of pneumonia.
She had been in declining health for several years.
Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Levi Murphy and she was a member
of the Church of Christ. Her husband died in March 1959.
Surviving are several children and among nieces and nephews in this
area are Arthur Clifford and Mrs. Peggy Burris of Shelbyville and Mrs. Henry
Bingham, Fosterville."

MURRY G. CLAXTON - paper dated 11 Aug 1969
"Murry G. Claxton, 85, retired farmer of Unionville, former operator of
a furniture store in Shelbyville and well known as an auctioneer in Bedford
County, died Saturday at Gordon Hospital, Lewisburg, after a long illness.
Services were to be held at 3:30 p. m. today at Lawrence Funeral Home,
Chapel Hill, with burial at Hopper Cemetery at Chapel Hill. Officiating
will be Rev. C. D. Tabor, Baptist minister.
Mr. Claxton was born in Bedford County, sone of the late James J. and
Evie May Claxton. He was a member of North Fork Baptist Church. His wife,
the former Minnie Pearl Martin, died July 17, 1962.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Otis (Clara May) Davis of
Shelbyville, Mrs. Grace Shates, Mrs. John B. (Edna) Gatlin and Mrs. Richmond
E. (Gladys) Jackson, all of Nashville; two sons, Raymond Hoyle Claxton of
Nashville, and Marvin Lee (Buck) Claxton, Shelbyville; nine grandchildren
and 21 great-grandchildren."
