I just saw this post. I'd love to share what I have...sorry, but I have very little on Nancy Clawson. I know she lived in Metuchen, Middlesex County, NJ in 1770ish at least...and married there in 1775 to Ellis R Campbell. Nancy lived in the home of Dr. Melancton Freeman for about 5 years before she married (also at Dr Freeman's home) Ellis R Campbell.
Ellis served under Matthew Freeman (some say he was a son of Dr Freeman) & others...if the pension files are right.
I do have access to the RWar pension files...and Ellis R Campbell is listed there...but mostly due to Nancy filing for his pension.
We are looking for a male descendant of Ellis R Campbell to compare dna. I found one...but she stated there was no match at all...only thing...we also have dna for Larry Campbell on FTDNA...and we know he's a Campbell by adoption...thinking she may have seen that dna.'
Oh, yours may be a son of Cornelius Clawson in NJ...as I have that Cornelius' will info (very short and to the point, no family listed).
We think Nancy was brought in as a companion for Nancy Freeman, daughter of Dr. Freeman.
The only picture I have is of Ellis Campbell b 1804 in VA ...who may/may not be connected.
I've attached a picture of Ellis Campbell (1804 VA- 1881 MO)
Marge
