Hi Dena!
My brother Gary got his DNA checked on FamilyTree DNA and we found out that our surname (Clossin) was changed from Clawson and the furthest back we have gotten is a Josiah Clawson who came to colonies in the mid 1700s and two brothers Peter (our ancestor) and a Richard who were Revolutionary War soldiers. Have found some Clawsons in Scotland, but nothing definitive.
Has your husband or any of the Clason line males done any DNA testing? It looks like our paternal ancestors were from Hungary, Romania or the Ukraine (Carpathian mountains) and were probably soldiers for the Roman Empire and went to the UK sometime around 200-300 A.D.
Thanks,
Dinah Clossin Mason
