Hey Diane, Just glad you wrote me. Harry K. was my Grandfather..I never met him because my mother told us that he was dead..long before he was. Did not know his name was Clawson, because my mother had lied not only about their real last name, but I have found many, many names that she used. We knew her as Deborah (Debbie) , but since her passing in 1980, I have learned so much & hit way toooo many brick walls, because I have no one to ask & haven't ever had known anyone that knew her before she met my Dad in Binghamton, NY. My mother's name was Juanita, she was Harry's youngest(I think) daughter & her sister's name was Dorothy..I actually guessed his name about 12 yrs ago & then began my search.."Juanita" said their last name was Claussenburg - which doesn't exist at all. I supposedly have 3 half sister & a half brother..don't know Juaniita's 1st husband's name - she lied about that too, along with where she was born, her age & everything. It has been very interesting what !
I have been lucky enough to find - which isn't much..that is why I started looking into Harry's siblings - to see if that would help & here we are. I went to Staunton, VA in 2004 & its a long story how I found this lady - very sweet & she lived in Harry Clawson/DeVore's house, because her mother was married to Harry - of course both are deceased & I even found his gravesite & that is a funny story too...all pure gut & guessing on my part. But sorry to say that lovely lady that was kind enough to share some stories with me - after she asked me who my Dad was..she thought I might be one of the three girls, which she had known before my mother gave them to her sister she said-- but unfornately Helen has also passed & she couldn't remember Juanita's 1st husbands name, but gave me the girls first names..which has been no help. I have added your e-mail,to my address contacts. My e-mail is beautifulfinish(a)aol.com. I have a million questions & my curious mind is always in gear. I d!
on't even have pictures of Harry because of course Juanita said she ha
ted him & feared him, so who knows. Please stay in touch, maybe we can figure all this out. I am excited about the 1940 census, but have no names - just know they lived in VA maybe in the later 1930's-40's - really not sure. My Dad didn't know any of this when he married my mother - I don't think, but he later started researching after my mother tried to kill me - she was very abusive & of course a huge liar..I hate sounding so disrespectful towards my mother, because I did love her & she was definitely not always abusive & she taught many things about the kind of person that knew I DID NOT want to be & that I thank her for. Sorry that I am going on & on & none of this probably makes any sense to you, but that seems to be normal with these people. Change their names, age..just make up stories as they go along. Thanks for listening, and thereis a whole lot more. I will look through all my notes, because I found alot of info about Chester..that is how I knew from your name!
s - Dorr/Ferguson -- that you were legit..I am very distrusting & question people's motives, but am extremely life smart & definitely listen to my instincts. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks again Diane..it is nice to know that I am not in this search alone.(I do have a sister-2 yrs older but she doesn't handle info well - she gets very emotional & disturbed by it)not me, after all I have been through in my life(I am 57) none of it bothers me, they were cons & gypsys & I don't have to worry about them hurting me & I am just wanting to know the truth & would like to know what they always felt like they had to lie & what were they running from or who? Besides themselves. LOL!! Please keep in touch.
Take Care,
Beth Newman
