Wedding Bells Ring Fifth Time for Civil War Veteran
PEORIA, Ill., June 26 -
James Martin Suddeth of Oak Hill, Ill, 98-year-old
veteran of the Civil and Spanish Amercian wars,
Wednesday was married for the fifth time.
His bride is 71-year-old Mrs Alfretta Clawson, also
of Oak Hill. This is her third marriage. Suddeth,
the father of two sons still living, wore a blue
serge suit with a white rose on the lapel as he
exchanged vows with his bride, the mother of seven
children, two of whom are living.
"We've known each other for six years now and it's
time we got married," Suddeth said. "She cooked
and kept house for me two years ago and we've been
talking marriage since."

My Clawson line is definitely from Pa. First ancestor coming to America was Garrett and wife Keziah from the Netherlands. They are buried in Uniontown, Fayette County, Pa. Do you think this line matches with yours? AND I also have 3 brothers - 2 of whom might participate in
a DNA test depending on cost.

so sorry for the delayed response. And yes we are searching for the same people. Raymond C. Clawson was married to Garnet Richards very breifly. They had a daughter named Naomi Audrey Clawson, (my grandmother). He had no involment in her life. My mother said he remarried and named one of his daughters Audrey Naomi Clawson. (Although I have found no record of this). Maud Clawson and her daughter ran a bible school around 1920-4. My grandmother and mother rememebr them as mean people! (my mother met Raymond Chester Clawson once) She would see him again in 1972, at Naomi Audrey Clawson-Biggs funeral in, Allegheny,Trentum, PA...but they did not speak. here is my e-mail..dorrferg(a)hotmail.com
Thank,
Diane Ferguson
