John, have you tried looking on FindAGrave? They are a great place to look for ancestors. I have heard that my Clawsons may also have come from New Jersey. Many Clawsons have come from there and headed west. Daylily

Hi Cindy, thanks for all the info. We'v e-mailed each other before. I'm still researching like everyone else on our Clawsons. You should look at some of the other people who posted to this site, one of them states that his parents have the Clawson family bible, and another person states that he know who Josiah Clawson's parents and grandparents are. Have you read any of this? Daylily P.S. You can contact me at overthere49(a)hotmail.com

Hi, I just read your reply and I'm curious about this Josiah Clawson. In my research and talking to others I have noticed that there are many Josiah Clawsons in Eastern Indiana. Some in Fountain, Carroll, Wayne, and others in the area. I also know that there are many Clawsons in Eaton?, Ohio just across the Indiana/Ohio line. What do you know of these Josiah's and other Clawsons in both areas? Are you related to the Ohio Clawsons? You can reach me at overthere49(a)hotmail.com
I would love to hear from you. Daylily

Hi, I'm glad for the reply. Yes, this particular Abner Clawson, born in 1834, was Abner Clawson's nepfew. I believe that I have read this article, but thanks for sending it. Would the Clawson family bible say who Josiah Clawson's parents were? And if it does from where did they come from? You can write me at overthere49(a)hotmail.com
Look foward to hearing from you. Daylily

To Craig and any other Clawson male, it would be nice if people would agree to submit to a DNA genealogy test. I have done this and have gotten some conflicting results on the possibility of being related to other Clawson families. I am especially looking for members of the Indiana and Huntingdon Counties Clawsons to do this.
A good site to go to is www.familytreedna.com.
Thanks,
Keith Clawson

I recently discovered a short biography of Abner Clawson in Google Books. However, I think this Abner is the nephew of your Abner.
History of Wayne County, Indiana: together with sketches of its cities, villages and towns, educational, religious, civil, military, and political history, portraits of prominent persons, and biographies of representative citizens (Volume 2).
Chicago: Inter-State Publishing Co., 1884.

Abner Clawson, farmer, Green Township, was born in Wayne County, Ind., March 28, 1834. He was reared on a farm, receiving a common-school education. He has followed agricultural pursuits through life, and now owns a fine farm in Green and Webster townships and has one of the best residences in the township. He was married in 1879 to Margaret J., daughter of Thomas and Anna De Yarmon, of Richmond, Ind. Mahlon Clawson, father of our subject, came from North Caroline to Wayne County, Ind., with his parents in the year 1818, where he was married to Mary Brown, who came with her parents from Tennessee to Wayne County in 1820. They reared a family of six children - Jane (deceased), Abner, Esther, Sarah, Joseph, and Charles. Mahlon Clawson is now living in Iowa, aged eighty-one years. His wife died at the age of seventy-two years.

Hello,
I am directly related to Andrew Hoover and therefore my marriage to the Bulla's. I live in Richmond, Wayne Co., IN. The Hoover-Bulla cemetery is a private cemetery here in town. To be buried there you must be related to either the Hoover's or the Bulla's. There are 4 Clawson's there: Caroline, Abner, Elizabeth (White), and Rebecca. I would love to exchange data with any of you. If I can assist with any records or pictures from here in Wayne Co., please let me know. desloan(a)aol.com
Mary Ann Brown who married Mahlon Clawson is my third Great- Aunt. I have a lot of information on the Brown's and Hoover's.
Thanks,

Hi, I just checked this query today and I'm sorry I didn't reply until now. Thanks for the information about Josiah Clawson. I descend from his son Abner. Abner married Elizabeth White in Wayne county Indiana after migrating there with his brother Amos. Abner and Elizabeth had nine children. Alfred Clawson was one of their children. He married Emily Oblinger and they had Charles Perry Clawson. Charles married Nancy Ann Terrell and their daughter Alice C Clawson was my grandmother. It's so nice to her that this Clawson family bible is still around. If you would like to discuss more about the Clawsons you can contact me at overthere49(a)hotmail.com

Hi everyone. My father had done a lot of research, which is stacked in papers here on my desk. Was very pleased when I signed up for Ancestry to find that most of this work was already typed in for me :) So, thanks for that.
He had gathered much of his information from the awesome research done by Keith Clawson, and I owe you a beer for it.
My family moved from Johnstown PA to Columbus Ohio in 2000, and we have two sons...making sure our surname expands beyond western PA.
Thanks for all your help.
