I am a descendent of John Larimore "Jack" Clawson. He married Rachel Price and had 6 children. His son William married Mary Ferguson, daughter of Anderson Ferguson and Penelope Sears. Their son John Anderson "Jay" Clawson married Maudie Mae Portwood and emigrated to Arkansas, where they had four children. My grandfather was their oldest son, William Andrew Clawson, Sr. Hope this helps, I do have lots of photos.

Hi,
According to the 1880 census Joe and Anna Simpson had two people residing with them in Missouri. A son named Bird, born abt 1872, and a stepson named David Clawson, b. abt 1866. I think you can draw your own conclusion from this information.
The 1900 census has 2 columns, one that asks a woman how many children you had, and the other that asks how many are still living at the time of the census. Anna entered 6 and 5. On the 1910 census she enters 5 and 2. One could safely say that she had at least two more children besides James, Bird and David.

you are correct... i was drawing from memory..incorrectly it seems... Bird was James...
1880 Census has David 14 & Bird 8
in 1885 it is Reno/David 18 & J.E./Bird 13
1900 is just Anna & Joseph & a step grandson John A. Wise, and a boarder Emma; with David & Mary living down the street with their 3 children (says she had 1 deceased child)
1910 is Annie & Joseph with James living down the street with his wife and 3 children
the 1900 census is the first indication that i have seen that Annie had 6 children... there must be a another marriage... maybe that is why her marriage license in 1870 to Joseph refers to Annie Clawson... whom i have searched but couldn't determine my specific person. Guess i will start over searching for Clawson.... it has been awhile since i worked on Annie :)i have pulled my file to start there...
i can obviously use all the help i can get to solve the puzzle. my tree is in ancestry.com Lamar-Hilderbrand-Baker-Majors....

According to census data Anna had 6 children, 5 still living in 1900. Do you have names and birthdates for those other than David R. and Bird?

Would this be a Roland Clawson that is living in Arkansas descended from John Anderson "Jay" Clawson. He had a brother William Andrew, my grandfather, and two sisters, Rita J and Anna B Clawson. If so, he is still alive and well in ARkansas.

I believe with a lot of kind help I have moved back another generation. Does this guy ring a bell with anyone? I have 4 Ichabods in my databse so I identify them by birth year. I would love to exchange info with descendants or anyone who would know his placement in the Clawsons overall. I know there were several other Clawsons in Shelby County and the Miami Valley and it would be really weird to me if there were no connection at all.
Please note that his placement in Franklin County VT in 1810 puts him pretty close to the Canadian border. Does this mean anything to anybody? in 1850, he said his brithplace was NJ. Does anybody know were he died or who his first wife was?
I am not very skilled in pre-Civil War research, so I was hoping to find somebody else working this line before I delve into courthouse research.
Warmest Regards In Very Cold Ohio -
Debbie Moore
