Message Board Post:
I am looking for a Robert Clawson or Clausen that probably died sometime in the 1960's or 1970's. I think he and his wife lived in the Grand Island or Omaha Nebraska area. I think her name was Caroline. They had 4 children who were adoped out. My adopted sister is one those children. She lost both her brothers before they were 40 due to health issues and now her sister is in bad health. I need badly to find out the family history. I think her birth mother may have been a Barnes, Barns or Burns..We were told her birth mother may have died in a mental hospital. If anyone can help she will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for all your hard work, Don.
Don't you think there might be a link between what you call the "Delaware,
OH" Robt. Clossons and the
John and Jane Clossons? Why did Jane choose to
pick up all those kids and move to Ashland, OH after John died? There must
have been someone there she wanted to live near. Perhaps you already know
the answer to this -
I don't.

Happy New Year ! It looks to me like there are at least tree groups of
Closson/Clawson around, maybe four. There is a group that were from Maine
that were Loyalist. After the war they went to Canada and traveled West and
back to the US and WI. Another group which I will refer to as the Delaware
Ohio Group is linked to a Robert Closson, they went to Ashland Ohio, back to
Delaware OH, Indiana, Michigan. They are from the North East US. The third
group is mine. Oldest trace is John born in PA in 1783. They went to Ashland
Ohio in 1821 and then to Indiana and Michigan we think, west to Wis. and
Iowa and OR. May have been in KY for while. The forth group maybe part of
another, they were in NC and SC.
I know there were Clossons in TX, and AK but can put them in a group.
My group we think were from Germany or at least spoke German. Some claim to
be Scotch and others say it is all one group that went from Scotland to
France and then to the US.
Send me your email address and I will send you what I have on my line.
Thanks, Don
