Hi Susan,
Happy New Year from Alaska. I have tried everything I can to connect the Pennsylvania Clawsons/Clossons/Clossins to Josiah Closson from New England. Still cannot do it. I just went to Adam Clawson's site and was interested to see that I had contributed to it. Hmmmmmm, I don't remember doing that, but I do have a public tree here on Ancestry...
All my people are from Somerset county on my dad's side. My ancestors were Barrons,Zimmermans and Shaffers. I will be happy to put you on my list of Clawson/Closson/Clossin list if I ever find any definite proof that James Smith Clossin was a descendent of the New England Clossins.

Have you found out anything about Josiah since you wrote this thread? I am a descendant of his son, John, who was born in PA (1781). I got this from www.clawsonfamily.com. I just found out that information today when I came across a family bible that listed some clawsons. I am from Somerset County, PA but am trying to fill in some blanks from my current home (Oklahoma).
Thanks--Susan

No, I never found any more on him. I slowed down on my researching a lot. That one website I spoke of before may be updated by now. Maybe we can check that out. Thanks for the reply.

I just wanted to see if you were able to find anything about Josiah Clawson. I'm not sure if we're talking about the same person (b. Scotland d. before 1781 Cumberland County, PA)? I just discovered that he was my ggggg grandfather and am just starting the search. Have you found any information about his wife?
Thank you!
Susan Chacon
