Dear Bruce,
I am looking for my Clawson side of the family.
I donot have much to go by. My GR GR Grandma was Anna Maria Clawson b. April 16, 1828 - Dec 26, 1886
she was born in Punxsutawney, Pa and both her parents born in Pa. I donot know there names. When she was 16 she married David Bear or Bair May 1844 in Punxsutawney.
We were always told we were Dutch- Pennsylvanian which would be from Holland decendants.
Anyway I was told that she had a younger brother Samuel Clawson and brothers or sisters marrying White and States.
Grandma Clawson named her son My GR Grandpa Charles Clawson Bair. While living in Fredonia, Ks. another group of Bairs came to live with them on the farm.
I think it was GR GR Grandpa Bair's sister in law . Anyway, her name was Catherine M. Bair b. 1825 and she named her yougest son Samuel Clawson Bair III.b. 1850.
Her maiden name must of also been Clawson just haven't been able to prove.
She and son are buried in St. Johns, Ks. and while at the cemetery right across from her grave is a Samuel Clawson b. 1834 - 1905.
I am only speculating but I think Catherine M. and Samuel Clawson are my Gr. Gr. Grandma Clawson's brother and sister.
Catherine M. Clawson b. 1825 - 1903
Anna Maria Clawson b.1828 - 1886
Samuel Clawson b. 1834 - 1905
All three 's parents were born in Pennsylvania. I just don't know who there parents were.
If you could help I would appreciate it.
Sincerely
Carol (Bair) Holman

Dear Jayette,
>From reading all your inqueies. We may also be related.
My GR. GR. Grandma was Anna Maria Clawson b. April 16, 1828 born in Punxsutawney, Penn. She married David Bair b. 1818 of Lancaster, Penn. And they married in Punxsutawney May 1844 when she was 16 years old. According to the Wilson County,Ks Cenus her parents both born in Pennsylvania too. I donot know what her parents names were. All I do know is she had a younger brother Samuel and sisters or brother marrying a White and States.
While Grandma was living in Fredonia, Ks there was a Catherine M. Bair and son's David and Samuel Clawson Bair living on Gr. Gr. Grandma's land.
What is odd Catherine b. 1825 - 1903 named her youngest boy Samuel Clawson Bair III b. 1850. So I feel like her maiden name was Clawson.
I think she was Grandma's sister and they married brothers..
Gr. Gr. Grandpa David's brother Samuel Bair b. 1821 - Aug 1851 married Catherine M.?
And Catherine is buried at St. John's, Ks beside her son Samuel C. Bair. Right across from there grave is a Samuel Clawson b. 1834 - 1905
Catherine M. b. 1825
Anna Maria Clawson b. 1828
Samuel Clawson b. 1834
Right now I'am trying to prove Catherine was a Clawson
and Samuel Clawson is the right one.
All three born in Punxsutawney, Penn. and parents all born in Penn.
Also my Gr. Gr. Grandma named my Gr. Grandpa Charles Clawson Bair.
To me it sounds as if there is a connection.
Sincerely Carol (Bair) Holman

My great grandmother is Gertrude Anna Clausen/Clawson and she is from there. My grandmother, her daughter, was born in Hornbrook on 09/24/1920. Don't know when Gertrude was born. I do know that she died in San Francisco sometime in the 60's. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Barbara Westman, are you still doing genealogy searches?
In material from an A Thomas website on Washington County VA families that I downloaded some years ago, Jane/Jean Larimer and John Larimer fit in as my 3rd great grandparents on my mother's side. I've done most with ferreting out lines from my maternal grandfather, Roby Brackendale Widener, but there is a cluster of Larimers up the line from him, and from them, going down again, there is a cluster of Clawsons.
>From my late mother's remarks, I believe her mother Dorcas Darnell Widener, was born to a Stuart family. I know that Dorcas and her father W.H. Darnell were buried near Abingdon, VA, but I haven't yet found links to other Darnell or Stuart families. A sister of Dorcas Darnell Widener married a Clasbey, and I have a little bit of info on that family group, but not much.
I'd like to hear from genealogy addicts who can provide info on any of these lines, and from cousins -- especially any residing in Southern California now.
Peace --
