Tammy, I'm at work and don't have that info with me. I don't know if I can
locate it. When I found her info, I just printed it out and went on.
However, I have just discovered an interesting sitename that I haven't been
in yet. Try this one.
sss.mosesclawson.com I hope it has a ton of info. If so, let me know. At
least the name sounds very promising, doesn't it. More later.
Patti
Patti,
I haven't spoken to Pa yet (my grandfather-in-law), my husband has had
surgery and things have been upside down around here. Could you send me
Kathy Wray's website address? I will contact Pa hopefully tonight and find
out if he recognizes these names.

Hi Sue and all:
This is a question that has been asked many times over the years. So far
as I know, it has not been answered. On page 30 of the January 1981
issue of "Morford Historian" Enid Adams wrote:
"MORFORD-CLAWSON: James Morford [1753-1809] of Middlesex Co., N. J.
and Mercer Co., Pa. married, 1772, Ann Clawson. They had a daughter,
given name unknown, who married into the Clawson family. Is there a
published or private genealogical record of NJ or Pa. Clawson family
giving information of both of these marriages?"
Lacking any such genealogical records, a new web page which includes
*sightings* of 17th and 18th century Clawsons, Claasens, Clossons, et
al, in NY and MD as well as NJ and PA, has been added to my MGC site.

It's a modest beginning to a collection that, hopefully, will one day
contain the answers to our Clawson questions. Contributions are
welcome. An update is already in progress, so send me your Clawson
sightings today so they can be included, too.
Best regards,
Cliff Morford
Tammy,
I talked to Mother and showed her your e-mail. She doesn't recognize the
name but said when they were young, her family thought they were the only
Clawsons in Texas. Now we know that there is also at least a branch in and
around Waco (but that is still central Texas where our branch is "thick".
Mother said to ask if your grandfather-in-law recognizes any of these
names.
I won't give dates as I don't have any records with me. However, I am
beginning with my mother's grandfather. My mother is the oldest grandchild
in this line, and she is 79 years of age. Therefore, she thinks your
grandfather-in-law might recognize some of the names in her generation-
those will be the very last of names in this list.
Grandfather: Nathaniel Clawson mar Francis Moorhead (not an Indian)
Father: James Franklin Clawson mar Virginia (Virgie) Bartles (1st wife)
Children: Rex, Oran, Carl, Don (a female)
Father: James Franklin Clawson mar Julia Josephine Doolittle Brazzil (2nd
wife)
Children: Glee, Gayle, Jan, J.F., Grace, Ray, Nova
Glee is my mother. There are lots of Clawsons in this branch. I will be
happy to furnish details when we find our link, if I don't get a chance
before. Don't forget, you will find much of the same info with Iva.
Another person you can contact is Kathy Wray. She also has a website. I
don't have that info here ( I'm doing this at work.), but Iva is also in
contact with her.
Must close. Work rears its ugly head. Hope to talk to you soon.
Patti
Patti,
This is great, maybe we can find a connection for all of us. Can you send me
the names you are searc hing for? I'm going to call my husband's grandfather
tonight to pump him for more info. Send me your names and maybe he will
recognize something.
Tammy
Tammy,
As Iva will tell you, "Boy, do we have relatives in Texas!" The answer
is a resounding YES! I hope we can link up with you. I am notoriously slow
in responding with info these days but would love to be kept in the loop. I
think
Iva has much more info than I but I do have some photos etc that I am having
reprinted and will be happy to share. If these would be of interest, let me
know.
If we can make the link-up, I think you'll want them. Iva will be getting
these, too.
My mother is a Clawson. I'll be showing her your e-mail this afternoon
and maybe she can shed some light on this. If not, we have other relatives
who might.
Keep in touch, keep me in the loop, and send me your address so I send you
whatever I have, esp. the photos.
So glad to meet another member of the family - and I do think all these
Texas Clawsons are related!
Patti Richardson
Irving, Texas
Iva,
I don't have very much info to share, hopefully I'll have more to go on soon.
My husband's father is James Clawson, Sr. His father is Bernice Frances
Clawson, aka B.F. or Blacky. He was born 31 Mar 1925. He married Irene
Ellen Gruben in 1941 and they had ten children and lived in Rotan, TX.
B.F.'s dad was Louie Edgar Clawson. He married Ruby Ellen Harris who I
believe is the daughter of Dan Harris and Fanny Morehead (who is suppose to
be Indian). Louie served in the 36th division in World War I. They all
lived in or around Fisher and Jones Counties in Texas. Most of the children
still live in this area (Hamlin, Rotan, and Snyder). If anything is familiar
please let me know. Do you have Clawson's in Texas?
Thanks,
Tammy
Tammy, I am interested in hearing about your Texas relatives...Iva Clawson

Hello!
My Clawson line came from the island of Sylt in Schleswig-Holstein.
Peter Jan CLAUSEN b: 02 Jul 1788 in Kleve, Hennested Ksp.,
Norderditmarschen Kreis, Holstein d: 1870 married Inge Bahne PAULS b: Abt.
1792 in Morsum, Sylt m: 1818 in Prob in Schlesweig-Holstein d: 1842 in
Tinnum, Sylt
The spelling of the name is not consistent at all. Every variation of
Clasen appears in family documents. In the 1840's the family scattered.
One son ended up in Texas (my line), one went to California, one went to
Australia, one may have stayed in the area, one died at sea. The two
daughters stayed in the area.
I'm looking for any of the descendants of their scattered children.
These children were:
Erckel Peter Claasen b: Abt. 1819 (May have lived in Tondern, Denmark)
Jens Peter Claasen b: Abt. 1821 d: 1870 in California
Nichels Carsten Claasen b: Abt. 1823 in Morsum, Morsum Sogn, Tonder Amt,
Denmark d: in Australia
Martin Thomas Clasen b: 02 Jun 1826 in Keitum, Keitum Sogn, Tonder Amt,
Denmark d: 25 Oct 1899 in near Seabrook, Harris County, Texas married
Josephine Maria Elise KUHN b: 11 Nov 1837 in Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach,
Germany m: 05 May 1856 in Galveston, Galveston County, Texas d: 04 Jan
1910 in Seabrook, Harris Co, Texas.
Meinerd Johann Claasen b: Abt. 1829 in Keitum, Keitum Sogn, Tonder Amt,
Denmark d: At Sea
Anna Nicolina Maria Ida Claasen b: Abt. 1833 in Keitum, Keitum Sogn, Tonder
Amt, Denmark
Gustave Lovinna Amelie Ingelina Claasen b: Bet. 1836 - 1837 in Keitum,
Keitum Sogn, Tonder Amt, Schlesweig-Holstein, Denmark married Johann
BRUNSTEN
2nd Wife of Peter Jan Clausen:
..+Anna Catharina Duhe (or Duhn) b: Abt. 1811 in Romo, Ribe Amt, Denmark
m: 1843
Peter and Anna may have had five children. One of these was Peter Jan
Claasen b: Abt. 1843 in Tinnum, Keitum Sogn, Tonder Amt, Denmark.
Thank you,
Kelly Murdock-Billy
