Several researchers record that Ann Clawson was born about 1751 and
married 1772 in Mercer Co., PA. I can find no evidence of such.
It seemed reasonable that the marriage, 19 April 1772, of James Morford
and Ann Clawson, took place in Middlesex Co., New Jersey where James was
born in 1753, and where in 1778 he was a member of the NJ Militia,
rather than in Mercer Co., PA where they are found in 1800, after
having been in Fayette Co., PA in 1790.
However, I found no record of their marriage in the transcriptions of
early NJ marriages.

The next place to look is east of Middlesex Co., NJ in Richmond
Co./Staten Island, New York where the surname *CLAESSEN* is found.
Any thoughts? Any help?
Happy Holidays,
Cliff
