Hello ! If you've accessed the Archives of this List, you will find
this Post to start things off. I realize this is a very rare surname,
but worthy of discussion and finding links to relatives.
The CLAVIJO link I'm studying began in the Canary Islands of Spain with
Jose Maria CLAVIJO who came to New Orleans, Louisiana, USA in 1907. His
Naturalization papers and voting cards [which were filmed in New
Orleans] say he was born in the village of Teguise which was part of
Lanzarote on the island of Las Palmas in the chain of Canary Islands,
part of the country of Spain.
Jose was born Aug 10, 1887. After he arrived in New Orleans, he married
Severina CARBAJAL, they had 2 children, Joseph in 1920 and Sydney in
1922. Sydney married Bonnie and had 2 daughters in New Orleans. The
daughters are living and one is now looking for her CLAVIJO roots. This
list is to facilitate that search. I will be Posting whatever
information I can find on that search.
Other CLAVIJO links are to Urugray and Puerto Rico, but so far, we don't
know that these are linked to this family.
