I did receive the message, so guess my address is set up correctly. I don't
have much Claussen data to provide. They are one of my more difficult
lines. My great-grandmother was Kathryn Margaret (usually known as Katie)
Claussen Heyer, born about 1875 in Benton county, Iowa. Father was Jacob
Claussen, born about 1841 in Holstein, Germany married to Mary (Marie)
Dorothy Nelson, or Nielson, born about 1856 in Schleswig, Germany. As far
as I know, they lived in Benton and Sac counties in Iowa. That is all I
know.

Hello Claussen Listers;
Here are the Claussen's I have been working on for 25+ years. They came from the Duchy of Holstein, Denmark to Bond, then Montgomery, Cos. IL in the 1830's. I am always thrilled to hear from other descendants of these folks.
As a young man, Emil H. Claussen came to west central IL and married Sarah Francis Lingo and had a large family. He taught school and died in his early 30's in Jefferson Co., IL.
Lucie (or Lucia) Sophus Claussen appears a widow with 4 children in the same places as Emil Claussen at about the same time (although they didn't immigrate together) and I know there is a close family connection--maybe Emil is her older son. She died about 1849 in Montgomery or Jefferson Co., IL.
Sure would like to get past the long standing roadblocks in the way. My roadblocks are:
Who were Emil Claussen's parents?
Who was Mrs. Lucie Claussen's husband (and were they Emil's parents)?
What was their village of origin in Duchy of Holstein, Denmark--now Germany?
What happened to Lucie's son Hugo L. Claussen (went fr IL to Humboldt Co., CA in 1850's--last record of him there in mid-1860's) and where are his naturalization records? (I know they exist, but where?)
I have a huge database of Emil's descendants, and a file on Lucie Sophus Claussen and her family as well on Worldconnect. Check them out if there is any chance we have a connection.

Welcome to the Claussen list. We are a small and very quiet group. Would
you please do me a favor and respond to this email so I will know your
subscription was properly handled?
Then, it would be wonderful if you could submit your Claussen data so we can
see if anyone has information which might help you, or even better, if one
of us might be a Claussen cousin!
Thanks
Debra Claussen
