I am looking for any persons who might be related to Hans Reimer
Claussen, born about 1804 in
Schleswig-Holstein. He was a member of the legislature of Holstein
from 1840-1851 and a member
of the German parliament in 1848-49. He came to Davenport, Scott Co.,
Iowa, US about 1851
or 1852, and became a active member of the Bar. He was elected to the
Iowa Senate in 1869.
His wife was Anna Rahbeck, daughter of a Danish poet.
I have found mention of a son named Ernest or Ernst Claussen (1833-) and
a daughter named Elfrieda (various spellings found) - there may have
been other children but I have not yet found solid evidence of this.
Elfrieda married another immigrant from Holstein about 1854 who was
named Christian Mueller (1823-1901), who became a successful
lumber/timber merchant in Davenport having a family of four sons
(including Frank W., Edward C., William L. and Alfred C. Mueller) and
one daughter (Hilda Mueller Matthey).
