Vernette Clauss was morn 18 May 1921 in NY. She served her country as a WAC 5 Aug 1943-9 Jan 1946. She died 23 Oct 1987 and is buried at Ft. Rosencrans National Cemetery in California. (Section GN3 Site 36). I find no mention of her on a few of these genealogy sites I visit. No family? In my possession (from my Aunt who served with her as a WAC) I have a poem she wrote while a PVT WAC DET TAS Ft. Knox, KY. 1943. I think this scrap of yellow paper of hers needs to be known. It reads as follows.
Of all the people I ever knew...No one can take the place of you. Of all the people who passed me by...No one could ever make me sigh. Of all the people I meet each day...No one could make me feel this way. Of all the people, who lead me astray...It's you that puts me on the right way. Of all the people in the world so wide...I always want you by my side. Of all the people who come and go...I always want just you to know, that I will never let you go by...My love for you will never die.
If anyone knows more of this woman, please respond.
