Message Board Post:
Hi,
I'm a bit new to posting on msg boards, but I've been looking to figure out
a family connection and hope someone may have info, or at least insight on
this.
My root question is to find the exact father or George Washington Shindel.
I have family bible (although no copy of said bible) info that traces me
back to him, his sister (Pearl), and his mother, Kate (Catherine, Kathe,
Katie) Clauser (Claser, Clouser). According to census results, Kate was
"single", and George and Pearl's father is not listed in the home. (Reuben
and Elizabeth Clauser are also listed on those census'.) According to the
family record, "Jacob Shindel" is the father of George Washington Shindel.
and Pearl Shindel.
I've contacted the Leb Co. courthouse Vital Stats dept, as well as the
Orphan Court Dept there. Talked to Sen. Fulmer's office. None of them have
birth certificate info prior to 1893. Does anyone know who exactly holds
such records, prior to 1893, specific to Leb. Co.? They suggested the Leb.
Co. Historical Society.
Researching info listed at
http://www.archive.org/stream/biographicalanna00jhbe#page/n811/mode/2up,
(around page 660), I deduce that my line connects in somewhere, but there
are multiple Jacob Shindels that it would be irresponsible to just make
assumptions on this one.
If anyone might have Shindel (or even Clauser) info, I'd love to hear about
it. Thanks!
