Message Board Post:
I have a will for a John Kelchner in upper Bern who died in Dec of 1801 and his
will is received in Jan 1802, administrators are a Stephen Kaufman and Daniel
Hertzler, wife is Margaret, one of his children is a Henry and he has a brother
by the name of Jacob who will watch over his family.
Our Kelchner family is originally from Ohio. I think we have tracked my
husbands, great great grandfather John M Kelchner to being baptised in St.
Michaels church in upper Bern now Tilden in 1812. His parents are a Jacob and
Elizabeth Kelchner. I found a marriage in the Reading Alder newspaper on line
for a Elizabeth Windbiegler or Windbigler who marries a Jacob Kelchner in
1808. On the baptism record I found their first child, Rebecca is born in
1810, John in 1812, and a Sofia in 1814. Then I have other Kelchners who I
believe to be brothers, Daniel Kelchner and Catharine who I thinks maiden name
was Clauser, and Heinrich and Suzanna Kelchner. There is also a Catharine
Kelchner who is the sponser for some of the baptisms. Other names associated
with these baptisms are Philip & Catharine Kaufman, Catharine Wagner, Jacob and
Magdalena Clauser, Elizabeth Albrecht, and David and Margaretha Gaenger or
Ganger. I think these may be decendants of Mathias. Do you have any i!
nformation on these names?
