Dear Glen,
I've noticed the "VanAcken" surname in your data and have been meaning to
ask you where you found that Abraham's (the emigrant) wife surname was Van
Auken? I had noticed that my branch of Uptegrove's (Updegrave's, etc.) who
settled in settled in the TriState area (NJ/NY/PA), mainly on the border
region of Sussex County NJ & Orange County NY seemed to be hanging around
with many VanAcken's in that area in the mid to late 1700s. I always
wondered if there was any significance to this but have not found a
connection.
Do you have any other data on the VanAcken connection?
Liese
P.S. In that 1700's time period, the name of my Uptegrove branch was most
often found with the spelling "Updegrave".
