The groups of my family were in Columbia/Montour Counties from the late 1700
to early 1900s.
The last was Samuel T Stroup (b. 1876 Col Cty) whose was Edith Laura Yocum (b
1885 in IL)
His parents were Jacob Stroup/Straub (1832-ca 1893) and Marjorie Ellen
Unknown (or Ellen M) (ca 1842-1902 buried Col Cty). Edith Yocum's dad was
Emanual Richard Yocum (b 1859 Col Cty d IA) and her mom was Ada Rurvenia
Heacock (1859-1893 both in Col Cty).
Jacob's parents were Jonathan Stroup/Straub (1802-1845) and Catharine Clauser
(1804-1875) both were born and are currently buried in Columbia County.
Emanual R Yocum's parents were Jacob S Yocum (1810-1880) and Julianna Markle
(1816-1887) both were born and are currently buried in Columbia County. Ada
Heacocks parents were Amos Kester Heacock (1824-1905) and Elizabeth Ikeler
(1830-1859) both born and buried in Columbia County.
Jonathan Stroup's parent were Johan Adam Stroup/Straub (1775-1830) and Maria
Catharina Heilman (1774-1830) Adam is buried in Columbia County by the
Heilman gravesite and family location is still unknow). Catherine Clauser
was the daughter of Philip Adam Klauser. This family is being researched.
Jacob S Yocum's parents were of the Yochim line that began in New Jersey in
ca 1690 and worked their way through various parts of Penn until arriving in
the Columbia County area in the early 1800's. Julianna Markle was the
daughter of Jonathan Markle (1788-1827) and Eva Adams (1788-1886) of other
Penn counties. Amos Kester Heacock was the son of Amos Heacock (1799-1824)
and Hannah Kester (1804-1853), both families of Columbia County. Elizabeth
Ikeler was the child of Isaac Ikeler (1804-1883) and Mary Taylor (1810-1879)
both buried and of families within Columbia County.
Guess this is enough, eh?
