Hi Mary,
So far this is what I found via a wonderful person on here who dug around. I am hoping this is all one and the same family, though it matches, I don't understand Danish at all so I'm stumped at the moment for more information to prove this. Smedeby is just west of Flengburg, very close.

Andreas1/Anders Clausen was married to Christina Nilsdatter. They had two boys: Andreas2(Andrew)Clausen and Charles Nicolay/Nicolas Clausen.
Andreas2/Andrew was my Grandfather. Gathering that Charles was your Grandfather?
They both had lived in Ladner, B.C. working there. But Charles went south to the U.S. at some point after marrying Maria.
I don't know if my Dad (Andrew2's son, Ernest Andrew) ever heard from him again. So anything you can tell me about his wanderings would be fantastic. Did he have many children?
Just to further on this for your interest, Charles and Andrew's Grandfather was Nicholay Clausen/Claussen to Christina Maria Petersen.
It shows that Andreas1 had two siblings Keston Peter bn Dec 15, 1833 in Aaberraa, and a sister Anna 1831, but no more info on her.
Andreas2 and Charles were also born in Aaberraa, Denmark.
Hope this helps.
Kerry

Do you have any relatives who lived in southwest Washington state? Maybe Rochester area?? I have a relative who was helping demolish a house and found a number of very old pictures behind (I believe)a wall. One of them is of a "Dr. Arthur Southward" "Uncle Art" listed as Sarah Clausen's Brother. There is also an Ester Claussen, 12-01, "Essie". And one of 4 girls marked: "July 1898- Iris (Ruth's Mom, Doris, Elva, Esther Clausen" and one of a "Jerome (?)Wagenfuchr "Omie" Sue's Grandfather" Do Any of these mean anything to you?? Email me at PFS_girl(a)yahoo.com Thanks Lylla Stanfield
