I have discovered in my searching that there are A LOT of Clausens! I know about the museum you mention, my cousin in Hamburg is taking me there.
Isn't it amazing what these posts find? Thanks to your question, I have found a cousin I never knew I had!
Thanks!

I am really surprised. after so many years some answers for my post.
But i think it is not the same bloodline. Clausen or Claussen is the bloodline from my mother. The brother of her grandfather immigrated to the USA around 1900. And his first name was probably Asmus. We have a postcard from him from 1900. It's a picture of him (A. Claussen) and his partner (F. Grove) in their bar or lunch counter in Billings, Montana - "Blue Ribbon Lunch Counter". He probably changed his name in Claussen in the USA because our family is actually spelled Clausen. We hardly have any information about him. But we are also related to Hansen, but Hansen is a really common name in Northern Germany. Some Hansen immigrated to the USA too, to Fargo.
I called my parents today and asked them if they know if we are related to Ketelsen. My Mom don't think so but she will check if she can find anything in her documents. But my dad told me that he knows a man from Pellworm who is called Ketelsen. So you probably will find still some relatives on Pellworm when you are coming for a visit.
There is a institute or museum near Husum, they do alot of research about all the people from Schleswig-Holstein who immigrated to the USA. Maybe you can get some information about your family from them. I can try to find out the address for you if you would like. It's too bad it's not the same bloodline.

Oh my gosh! She must be the daughter of Donna or Monna! Let's move this offline. My email is christysway(a)msn.com. I have already found a 2nd cousin in Oregon this way, and now another!
Email me and we will see if we can help each other.
Christy

I am researching this line for my house mate. She is the granddaughter of Carl Clausen and Ella (Ross). That would make you two cousins! The late Paul Clausen put together a family history so I took that and built her family history from there. The Stockfleths and Ketelsen's are included since I research all blood lines. We are very interested in Barney Clausen's story, particularly since he led such a colorful life. For example, we know from the census that he owned a saloon, but what was it called? There are family stories that he was a scout for the US Army and was wounded/taken care of by the Indians. Is there any proof or documentation of this? Would love to compare notes. I am new to these boards (read them for years but rarely post.)How do we do that beyond these boards?

I am also researching this line. My great grandfather was Barney Clausen, my grandfather Alfred. I would be interested in connecting with others who are researching this line. I will be traveling to Germany in April to visit Pellworm and Husum, and any information I can take with me would be helpful. I am also interested in the Stockfleth-Ketelsen line (Barney's wife Minnie).
