Hi Everyone.
My name is Renee Waring and I have a story to tell. I'm hoping someone out
there has the answer.
The family story passed down through the generations is this: A Dutch Fur
Trader married the daughter of a chief of the Susquehannok Indians. I am
descended from one of their children. I have been doing genealogy since 1984 but
have only been able to trace the indian lineage back to a Peter Young found in
the 1810 census in Clearfield County, PA. Peter Young had an Indian trading
post on the Little Clearfield Creek. He buried his wife Elizabeth (1750-1802)
near the top of a small mountain above the trading post in the Susquehannock
manner, he entombed her in stone. Until fairly recently I have never been able
to get back farther than Peter Young but recently someone pointed me in the
direction of Jacob Clausen i.e. Young Fur Trader/Indian Interpreter. He is very
well known, and was charged with treason for several reasons including having
a Susquehannock wife.
If there is anyone out there who can shed some light on this story please,
please contact me.
Thanks,
Renee L. Waring
