Although clearly not the same person, I do have a Ferdinand too, and thought it worth mentioning in case there's a few of the same name in the one family.
Mine is Ferdinand Adolph Albert Clausen, born 1849, Holbeck, Denmark, son of Hans Clausen and Ane Kirstine Pedersen (my sister has at least one generation further back, but I don't have the details here). There were numerous other children of Hans & Ane: Sons: Carl Joachim Waldemar, Hansen, Harald Emil Christian Eli, Holger Waldemar, Holger Wilhelm, Wiggo Alexi. Daughters: Emilie Christiane Elisabeth, Mathilde Juliane Theodore, Olga Emilie Alvilda.
Ferdinand was a merchant seaman and settled in Liverpool, where he married Emily Beatrice Sedgwick. Their children were Edith, Emily Beatrice, Albert, Harold & Stanley Ferdinant.
Emily Beatrice (jr) was born in 1886, and she married Edward Guildford. Amongst their children was Edith May Guildford (1910-1999), my grandmother, who married Harold Pugh.
Of Ferdinand, my sister wonders if there was something a bit dodgy about the marriage, as he's in port on the Mersey in 1881 and listed as married, although he didn't marry Emily until a year or 2 later... she wonders if there was already a wife in Denmark (although it's probably more likely that an officer on board compiled the census return and just got Ferdinand's marital status wrong).
