Message Board Post:
Given the close ties to the Brant family, I am wondering whether there is a connection between Dow Claus and Lt. Col. Daniel Claus who was commander of Claus's Rangers. He was a Loyalist who served in the Six Nation's Indian Department during the Revolutionary War. His wife was Ann Johnson (daughter of Sir William Johnson). Althouth I believe the had more than 2 children, I only have the name of one child, Lieutenant William Claus who was in the 1st Battalion of the King's Royal Regiment.
I hope this information is helpful. In turn, I am interested in a Graham family that was also connected to the Brant's. Jane Graham, who married Thomas Martin, is the mother of William Edward Martin who married Sarah Brant (gr.-granddaughter of Dow Claus).
Would appreciate any information anyone has on Grahams connected to the Brant and Claus families.
Sincerely,
Jeannie Graham
