I am new to the list and am looking for info
on my ancestor Martin Claus(s), Klaus, born
in Germany about 1814. On one record he
is listed as born in Saxony and on another
record lists his last residence as Stettin. He
emigrated from Bremen to Baltimore June 1840.
His only child, Michael, later moved to Philadelphia.
Any information would be most appreciated.
Thank you.
Mary

Does anybody have any information about the Mohawk connection with the surname Claus? I don't know much about it and anything would be appreciated. I know that Claus originated somewhere in Europe and later on, in the states I think, quite a few Mohawks took on the name. But that's pretty much it.
