Melissa, I have a little information on Jeremiah Claunch in Lunenburg (became Mecklenburg Co.) Va but I cannot attach it here. If you will contact me at dotwhite(a)comcast.net I will give you what I have.
The name changed in NC to Clontz sometime around the Rev. War but it was originally Glantz then found as Claunch.Clonch/Clounch - you name it. I have this lineage back to 1732 in Philadelphia.

Dorothy !
You are so generous in offering your info and help ! Thanks !
I am a Clounch/Claunch descendant, My Dad's Mom was a Clounch.
My brickwall is my 3G Grandfather, David "Davy" B. Claunch, He was born abt. 1795 , Possibly in Mercer or Pulaski Co. KY - Virginia - Tennessee - North Carolina
He died 1870 in Colbert Co. Ala.
Married: Mary Martha Baker Born abt. 1798 KY and Died bet.1860 - 1870 Colbert Co. Ala.
Part of my problem with him is that the family tale is that he was adopted and that it is unknown if he kept his birth surname or took the surname of his adoptive family.
So, we know nothing concrete about him before abt. 1813,
His and Martha's first child was born 1814 in Alabama.
I had a Cousin who did some research and his speculations are that Davy was the child of William Claunch/Clounch born abt. 1778 Mecklenburg co. VA, by one of his 3 wives, if this is true I would say it was probably his wife , Betsy Alvis, who was my Grandfathers Mother.
But, with it being that far back, it's hard to find anything.
This William is Jeremiah Claunch/Clounch Jr.'s Son.
I would appreciate any help that you can provide !
God Bless!
