Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
State Of North Carolina
Cabarrus County:: On this 5th day of May 1844 personally appeared before me
henry Peck a Justice of the Peace in and for said county Francis Lingle aged
eighty five years, and made oath in due form of Law to the following
statements, to wit; That he has been from the commencement of the Revolution
well acquainted with George Clontz late pensioner, deceased of Buncomb
County North Carolina, also with his wife Chloe, whose maiden name was
Cline, who is now applying for a pension in the account of her said husbands
Revolutionary Services; that he the deponent , Francis Lingle, lived a near
neighbor tot he parties aforesaid George Clontz and Chloe Cline, at the time
they were married which marriage took place in Mecklenburg County, N.
Carolina in the summer of the year Seventeen hundred and Eighty three 1783,
which time deponent recollects from the date of his own marriage which took
place the year previous in the year 17hundred and eighty two. The deponent
further stated on his oath that he was not present at the wedding at the
time said parties were married but that he understood from these that did
witness said marriage that they were Lawfully married and as husband and
wife they have lived together ever since the above marriage and have been
considered as Lawfully man and wife by all that knew them.
Sworn to and subscribed on this day and year first above written before
Henry Peck, J. Peace. Signed by Franics Lingle (with his mark). I do
hereby certify that Francis Lingle the affiant aforesaid is a credible
person and be believed on oath given under my hand this 8th day of May 1844.
