There were at least three or four Jeremiah's in the early VA records. They have been difficult to separate and identify. The immigrant ancestor, Jerimy Glance ( Heironymous Glantz) arrived with a group of Palatines from Germany on the ship Adventure in 1732. He was not a British subject and was required to sign an Oath of Allegience to the Crown. He shows up in Lunenburg Co., VA ca. 1748 and later in Mecklenburg Co, VA. A son, Jeremiah, could have been born ca. 1733-1734. He is believed, but not proven, to be the Jeremiah, SR found in Montgomery Co., VA. Another Jeremiah born around 1755-1756 also lived in Montgomery Co., and was most likely Jeremiah, JR. At any rate, the Jeremiah born ca 1755-1756 and wife, Jane or Jean, sold their land in Montgomery and Wythe Co. VA in 1791. They were the progenitors of the Clonch-Claunch family in Pulaski Co., KY.
Matthew, William and Jacob Claunch settled in Mercer Co., KY. They are believed to have been brothers and sons of a Jeremiah. They also appear to have been closely related to the Claunches in Pulaski Co., KY.
A Jeremiah Claunch was living in Grayson Co., VA in 1810.
I think it highly unlikely that immigrant Jerimy Glance, who became known as Jeremiah Claunch, ever lived in England.

Regarding Jeremiah Clonch, Sr. born abt. 1734.
My husband's maternal grandmother is a Claunch from Harrodsburg, Ky [Mercer County] A well known genealogist in Central Kentucky has researched the Claunch family extremely well. He wrote a book, Bury Me in Dixville. He lists the entire Claunch family. He is Jack Bailey, Harrodsburg, Ky. If you want further information contact the
Harrdosburg Historical Society, 220 South Chiles Street, Harrodsburg, Ky 40330 [Phone: 859-734-5985] The hours for
the Society are 1 pm to 4 pm Tues - Sat. The best time to call is Tuesdays, because that is when the genealogy committee meets weekly. You may find the genealogy committee helpful. I know nothing of any Engilish ancestors, but that does not mean anything as I have only gone by Jack Baliey's research. Jack believes that Jeremiah's parents were:
Hieronymus Glantz born abt 1703. He arrived 1732 aboard the ship Adventure from Rotterdam Holland to Philadelphia. His second marriage was to Erna Barbara Mack in 1733 , daughter of George Mack, in Lebanon County PA. There is a page of information on this in the Bury Me In Dixville book.
Contact the Harrodsburg Historical Society for assistance.
