Jim,
I have not heard of that book, but I am very interested in what it contains!
I haven't been back to Odum/Jesup in a few years (Thanksgiving, 2010, I
think), so maybe the next time that I'm out there.
Joshua Clary is my paternal great great great grandfather. His son, Allen
(brother of Henry L, your paternal great grandfather) is my great X2
grandfather, so it appears as if we are both direct descendants of Joshua!
I'd be interested in comparing trees sometime. I am able to see some of
yours on your public tree.
Best regards,
Scott

Scott - thank you for the reply & info. I too am from Odum, moved as a child in early 50's. My P G-grandfather was Henry L Clary 1866,his father Joshua Clary 1822, Upton C 1795, & Ashford 1768. Are you from Joshua ? Only Clary book I have is 'The Clarys of Appling County' by Kay Lynn Westberry. Many Westberry's in this book as there have been several Clary/Westberry marriages thru the years. Noticed this was your other research family. Ms Westberry was in St Marys in '03 & I believe a copy of the book is in Jesup library. A lot of info in this book. Let me know if you would like to compare tree's, etc. Jim

Scott, glad to see your reply. I too am from Odum/Jesup, left there young about 1954 to move to Atlanta area. Still get back some. My P great-grandfather was Henry Clary (1866), his father Joshua C 1822, Upton C 1795, Ashford 1768, Primary reference book I have is 'The Clarys of Appling County', by Kay Lynn Westberry. She was in St. Mary's when I ordered my copy. Many Westberry's in book because of Cassandina/Joshua. Notice your other research name is Westberry and you may be interested in this book -- know the Jesup library has a copy. May get in touch with you to share research sometime. Jim

My Clary line goes back to Berryman Sanders Clary (g-g-g grandfather) in Alabama, James Decatur Clary, born in Alabama and moved to Laurel Hill, Florida. John Washington Clary, my g-grandfather and Alice Clary, my grandmother. I don't know if they were related to the Georgia Clarys, but it does seem likely

Hey y'all,
I am a direct Clary descendant from Ashford and Upton Clary. Most of my Clary family is in the Odum/Jesup, GA area. Although I have not taken the DNA test, I am intrigued seeing someone that might show up as "related" has taken the test.
Most of the Clary information that I have (past what family can recall) is from a small book titled "Westberry & Clary - Our Heritage." But, as you all have mentioned, the link past Ashford Clary is hard to make. Feel free to check out my tree and email me if you would like to discuss further.
I have heard of the book "Clary genealogy: Four early American lines and related families," but I have not located one around where I am. Is it pretty accurate?
I'd be interested in getting in touch with y'all, maybe by email, to further discuss our ancestors and try and tie up loose ends.

Hi! Please feel free to send me a message anytime if you have any questions and check out whatever I have in my media gallery. If you look through Elizabeth Haly's line, you'll see the connections to French and English royalty.

Thank you so much for this info. I have one Clary book but it's focus is on Georgia Clary's and it has good proofs back to Ashford D. C. I am so glad to have a good reference back another generation or two. Do you know if John 1706 was a son of another John? Also, where did they immigrate from -- I've always assumed Ireland. Thanks, Jim
