I am interested in any information on the Clary family from early 1800's in Cumberland County, Kentucky. Most of them changed the spelling to Cleary.
>From the Kentucky death records for Mary Ann Scott (widow of Reuben Scott) it listed Robert C Clary as her father and Nancy ? as her mother.
Could this be Nancy (nickname for Agnes) Clary?
1860 Burkesville, Cumberland Co census:
171--1--Davidson--Lucinda-25--f--TN--farmer & housekeeper -$300--$100--
171--2--Davidson--Pierson-22--m-TN--laborer--$50--*
171--3--Davidson--Floyd-31--m--KY--laborer--*--$80
171--4--Davidson--Margaret-16--f--TN--housework--
171--5--Clary--Agnes-90--f--VA--none---1-pauper
This Agnes Clary is living with her grandchildren. Their parents were Michael Davidson and Mary Clary, b. 1806 KY.
I have assumed that this Mary Clary is the sister of Robert b. 1812 KY, Agrippa b. 1810 KY and Martha Clary b. 1802 NC.

Hi! Yes, those are most likely "my" Joseph CLARYs in South West Wisconsin. There are actually (at least) three generations of Joseph CLARYs, but the last one that I have is Joseph W. CLARY born 1858, died 1886. His father, Joseph Henry CLARY died in 1912; he was my great-great grandfather. I don't have any information about the Joseph that died in a train accident though. Maybe a son of Joseph W. CLARY?
Perhaps we can share notes.
Jane

I'm not sure if there is a connection here or not, but my great-grandfather was Joseph Henry CLARY b. 1828 in NY, d. after 1910 in Darlington WI. I do not have any information or even names for his parents or siblings. But as I was going through some old documents of my father's, I found an envelope dated Jul 14 1899 addressed to "Mrs. J. H. Clary in Darlington WI" and the return handwritten address says "Geo Clary" and it has a pre-printed city "Callaway Nebr." Much confusion, but I'm wondering who this George CLARY was to Joseph CLARY. Sure wish the letter had been with the envelope!
Any thoughts you have would be great.
Jane

I'm looking for any information on George W. Clary born in either Ohio or Virginia around 1844. He married Sarah (Unknown),who born in Georgia sometime between 1849 & 1854. They had two daughters that I am aware of. Pearl B. was born between 1881 & 1883. She married Harry W. Bailey of New Jersey
around the turn of the 19th century. Her sister was Julia born around 1895 in Georgia. She married Charles Beensen. Sarah, then a widow, married Rufus W. Terry of Tenn. around the turn of the 19th century.
