My Father was William Austin Clary and his Father was named Oscar but I believe he was married to a Anna Dollarhide, they did reside in Arkansas but moved to BrokenBow, Oklahoma in the earlie 1900's.
Not sure if this info would be of use and might help me in my gathering of my Clary name.
Thank you,
Marhta

I made a mistage in that last post , which is really easy to do because I'm researching two Grover Cleveland Clarys. Both were born in either 1885 and/or 1887, one in southern OK, the other in northern TX, both of their mothers had the same initials (EJ), and both married women named Mary.
GCClary(1) was indeed the son of William Jackson Clary (son of William Price Clary)(son of John Swearingen Clary) and Elizabeth Jane/Alzira.
GCClary(2)(who's my primary research interest) was the son of John Jordan Clary and Ellen J. "Tennessee" Walker.
I've found one source that lists John Jordan as the son of (baby) John (son of Elisha - Elisha being the brother of William Price). I'm trying to verify this - John Jordan's father is my missing link.
If this is true, then GCClary(1) and GCClary(2) would be third cousins once removed (I think?). Some of the oral traditions of both the families of GC(1) and GC(2) match each other's and I think this could be why.
I'm also going to get the Selah/Cily/Sarah/Susannah timeline down on paper and do some more diggings. I'll let you know what I find.
Thanks so much for sharing what you have with me.
Linette

I show Elizabeth Jane (Alzira) Angely married to William Jackson (Jack)Clary, son of William Price Clary (son of John Swearingen Clary, Sr., and Susannah Price) and Sarah Elizabeth (Sally) Greene. Is that not correct? Do you show Elizabeth Jane Angely married to a John Clary?
My Selah/Celi/Sarah Unk/Clary/Stewart/Stuart records are a mess. Great Uncle Clarence's records appear to be contradictory where she is concerned and I need to try and figure out what is wrong. I cannot wrap my brain around the entries and need to timeline things to see if they become clearer. I either have two Selahs or they are one and the same, which doesn't seem possible since one should have been the great-grandmother and the other the mother to Daniel and John.
I have William Deveron Clary and Sarah (Selah/Celi) Swearingen had four children, Elisha(1), John(1), Ann, Mary; their Elisha(1) married Polly Barnes (1793) and they had a son named Jonathan (could this be the missing John Jordan?). John(1) married Susannah Price and they had a son Elisha(2) (1795-1821) that I am showing Elisha(2) married to Selah mother of Daniel and John, which I am questioning now.
I do not have any John Jordans in my information. Back to the drawing board.

I'm gathering from this that maybe John Swearingen Clary married twice - to Susannah and Selah. Looks like Selah was the mother of Daniel and John, and Susannah was the mother of Elisha. I think that Susannah had died by the time Elisha and Daniel died, and that Selah (who was now married to Robert Stewart) was given custody of Elisha's son John because she was the baby's step-grandmother.
If this bears out, then I need to find out if baby John had a son named John Jordan Clary (who married Alzira/Elizabeth Jane) :)
Having a really hard time finding John Jordan's father ...
What do you think?

I have recently found information that G.W. Clary was murdered when he was 50 years old, the US death information list it as" murder by pistol" I have no other information regarding his death, like who shot him, why, etc. He was living in Navarro County Texas when he was killed. I have read some of the history for that area during that time frame and seems as if a lot of killing, feuding, lawlessness, was going on. Any addition info would be appreciated. My e-mail is vonne41(a)bellsouth.net. G.W. was my GG Grandfather, his son G. W. Jr. or "Little Wash" was married to Mary Ann Yarbrough, she is buried in the cemetery at Provencal LA, Little Wash is buried in Lake Charles, don't know why.
