Searching for information on a Charles H. Clary (b. abt 1840)probably in Brunswick Co, VA. He first married a Sarah G. Lynch in 1870 Brunswick. Charles then married in about 1875 an Eveline Wright and they had several children in Brunswick. Charles dies sometime before the 1900 census. One of the children is a Henry and I believe this is the William Henry Clary I referenced in an earlier posting.
Does anyone have any information about this Charles Clary or any others mentioned above?
Sure would appreciate your help. Thanks.

Thank you very much for your help. I also found the 1880 census record for a Henry H. Clary. Although the initial "H" doesn't match the W H or William H that I would expect, I think that this is the same William Henry I am searching for. Everything else seems to fit: age, location, etc.
That is him in the 1920 census. I have seen that.
Thank you again for helping me. Let me know if your records turn up a match with this family line.

Here's the 1920 Federal Census record from Roanoke Rapids, Halifax, NC. The spouse looks more like Gergie Anna than Georgia Anne and that is how it has been entered in the database. Children are Irwin McK. age 5, William age 3, Katherine age 3mo and Elizabeth age 3mo. Another set of twins is rather interesting. This census shows William H. Clary as a Machinist at a cotton mill.
I'm at a dead-end going up the tree, though. Even if he is the son of Jonathan, I'm not finding earlier records for him in the databases I have access to. I don't see any of these names in OneWorldTree either so this may take some legwork to confirm and flesh out.
Hope some of that helps get you started.

Charles shows up in the 1860 Census at age 20 also in Meherrin but he's working as a farm laborer on a farm owned by a Mason family.
There's a Charles W. Clary born the right year in the 1850 Census that lists him as 11 and the member of a fairly large Clary family in Harrisonburg, Rockingham, Virginia but I don't have enough information to be certain it's the same person. If it is, his father was Johnathan Clary born abt. 1808 in Maryland who was a physician. This Charles W. appears to have a twin named John W. Clary. I'm attaching that census record.
So far, none of these names show up in my tree.

Here is the 1880 Census page for William H. Clary. It's not so easy to read but line 11 is his father Charles and the wife and children are directly below and indented.

I show an 1880 Federal Census record for a Henry H. Clary age 1 living in Meherrin, Brunswick, VA with an estimated birth year of 1879. His father is Charles age 40 and mother Eveline age 26 as well as a sister Dora A. Clary aged 2 and a 1 month old unnamed infant.
This doesn't match anything in my tree although I do have a branch from the Brunswick area so I'll be looking for a connection. I'll follow up with any more information I find.
