Thanks for your reply Jason. Sorry for the delay in replying - having e-mail issues.
I have only just started my Clary search. I am not able to yet verify if the details from the Clary family bible are correct. Besides the info I passed on earlier, it also says that most of our Clarys were catholic and originated from France from French ancestry but came to the US via Ireland. My father is the Clary, it was his great Uncle who wrote this information in the 1960's taken from the bible. As I mentioned, we have three WJ Clary's, the elder of the three born in France (1770's), the second one born in Ireland (a.1805) and the third one born in the US in 1858. Although the family tree drawn on old yellowed paper clearly shows WJ Clary as being the brother to Desiree and Marie-Julia - and son of Francois - I can find no historical mention anywhere of a brother. I wonder if Francois had a brother who had a son? I do know that our Clary lineage did not arrive in the US until 1822 after WJ's Uncle Phillip fought in the Greek insurrection. (I need to research that!) W!
J first settled in Louisiana in 1822 (probably the French Quarter!) before going to Kentucky then back to Texas. I am just now trying to contact other relatives to see if they have more information.
I will keep you posted. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Regards, Siri

Aside from Francois being a Count given title by Napoleon, Desiree having been Queen of Sweden (from whom the current royal family is descended) and Marie-Julie having been wife to Napoleon's brother Joseph Giuseppe Nabulion Bonaparte? ;P
Many of us have been looking for descendants of this line. Particularly male line descendants as legend has it they are descended from an Irish line and dna could solve this mystery.
If you do have any more information about this line I'd love to see it.

Our Clary family Bible has the following listed. (William James is also listed as being James William - so not sure which way around is correct!) W J Clary b 1770's, son of Francois Clary, brother of Desiree and Marie Julia Clary of France.
Son of above WJ, also named WJ Clary born in Ireland in about 1805. As a baby he was thrown from the Scullabogue Castle which the Protestants had set on fire & caught by his Aunt Shug and Uncle Phillip Clary who then brought him to America. He later married full-blooded Cherokee, Fannie Crabtree (who supposedly some connection to the famous Lotta Crabtree)
There was also a Joe Schiedigger married to Martha Reeves who produced a Mary Schiedigger who was married to William James Clary the 3rd. This Clary line had a homestead in Panther Kentucky in the 1870's then moved to Pecos Texas in 1910.
Does the above have any connection to others?
Thanks,
Siri

I have identified several descendants (including myself) of John Clary and Elizabeth Haly. 4 of us now have had genetic testing to confirm our genealogies.
This is the first time, however, that I've seen anyone descended from John Jr.
I'd be very interested in finding a direct male line descendant of this line. We are working backwards trying to confirm every individual in the lineage as far back as possible.
Currently we have 3 distinct lines from John's son Daniel. We also have one that's likely from his son William but we still have a missing link in the paper trail even though genetics confirm a link.
E-mail me privately at jason(a)clary.org if you have a direct paternal line male descendant that might be interested in this project.

It was in a book about early settlers of Washington Co., AR.
