HELP! I have just starting trying to trace back my Clary roots. No one
in my family has been able to discover any information on my Great
Grandfather or earlier relatives. His name was Roland Clary. Born
4/16/1877 died 5/27/1917. He died in the Gaffney or Draytonville area
of South Carolina. I have no idea where he came from. He married an
Alma Pennington around 1900. Any information would be very appreciated.
Thanks, Joe Clary.
Hello Erle,
I have access to a databank and found your Clarys. Hope this helps
you.

Hi fellow CLARY researchers:
Just a note. Please use this list as a means of furthering CLARY
research. I don't want to stifle anyone, but there have been a couple
of inappropriate posts here. No matter how valuable the information may
appear to you, please think carefully before posting and ask yourself a
couple of questions.
1. Is it appropriate to CLARY research, ie., not everyone may have a
SMITH or JONES in their line. Now, if SMITH or JONES married a CLARY or
named their children CLARY, etc., then ok.
2. War/Horror stories and such announcements shouldn't go here either
unless they have some CLARY connection. Neither should virus warnings.
There are numerous other appropriate areas for these. If you're unsure
about something go ahead and mail it first to me.
Thanks for your time.

hi,
I am new to this list. I have been contacted by someone I don't know asking
about our line. I sent the info but on any living realitives I only gave a
birth year. Do you think this is safe?

Subject: RISING SUN LODGE OF ODD FELLOWS - MOTTRAM LODGE No.291
Hi list
I have found today a framed certificate that is in my fathers possession
that we think refers to his g g grandfather.
"To the Grand Master, the Board of Directors, and the order in general.
This is to certify, that our beloved brother JOHN Lewis was admitted a
member of the loyal RISING SUN lodge No.291 in the MOTTRAM district of
Manchester Unity of the independent order of Odd Fellows on the Thirtieth
day of August in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty
Eight.
Signed by Michael Bentley N.G, Andrew Chadwick V.G, John Hobson Sec.
Presented to P.P.G.M JOHN Lewis on his retirement from office by members of
the above lodge as a memorial of their esteem in which he is held as a true
Odd Fellow and for having discharged the duties faithfully and honestly of
the sole trustee to the society for a period of thirty two years.
Dated August 7th 1869."
If anybody is able to shed any information on the lodge or the names
mentioned we would be very interested.
Thank you in anticipation
