Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Nicole,
Doing census research on the web, especially in Kentucky, is difficult due
to the lack of transcribed information. There are several census projects
ongoing (also looking for volunteers) at this time. Here are some URLs for
information:
Census Online (KY) at
http://raptor.nethosting.com/~reedme/links/KY_data.html
Some of the KyGenWeb sites point to census data - counties at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/counties.html
Some of the KyGenWeb Archive sites have census data - counties at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ky/kyfiles.html (there is 85MB of 1880
census page images for Bracken Co, see URL below)
You may also want to look at the UsGenWeb Census Project home page at

Hope this will get you started,

Haven't talked to you guys for a long time. I just found an indication
that my Michael Clark, whom I assumed came from Co. Mayo because his wife
did, could very well have come from Sligo. I found a Michael Clark born at
just the right time, 1811, to Patrick and Margaret Clark. So if there are
any Clark/Clary/Cleary families out there from Sligo, please contact me.
thanks

I went to the FHC yesterday and ordered a copy of the Rowland book.
While scanning the surname fiche for it I noticed a book written by a
Heilbrandt with a Clary connection. If memory serves, Progress or
Prospect, IL was also mentioned. It might be worth $3.50 to order it.
It concentrated more on the Heilbrandts than the Clarys, I think.

Thank God some one out there was reading the msgs. I've just about
exhausted the available sources of information.
Just what info do you have? I have info that I believe is accurate
up
to John (Allen?) Clary, Sr. B: abt 1761 in White County, TN. I am more
interested in the Hieldbrandt line, but Clary information, both
confirmation
and new information is more than welcome.
Please send what you have to:

Thanks very much.

I am trying to find information on Frank Hieldbrandt. He married Nancy
Clary (B:11/25/1859, Saranac, Mich., D:8/17/1953, Los Angeles, CA) on
9/7/1881 in Petersburg, Illinois. Almost any info on him would help,
especially birthdate and place, parents, etc.
Thank You

Hello All,
Does anybody have a copy of, or know where a copy can be obtained of the
"CLARY Genealogy" book by Rowland? I would like to enter the data onto
my computer and then make it available for download to any who would
want it. Or perhaps this is already been done? I'm Searching the line of
"Samual CLARY" b jul 11 1843 Parish of EXNING, county of Sulfolk?
Thanks,
H Joe CLARY
To all Clary researchers:
Chuck mentioned the book "Clary Genealogy - Four early American Lines &
Related Families" by Ralph Shearer Rowland & Star Wilson Rowland.
We have this book in the Oklahoma Historical Society Library here in Oklahoma
City. I would be more than happy to look up information for anyone, if you
will send me names and dates (if possible). I try to go to the library once a
week, but don't always make it, so it might be several days before I could get
the info back to you. I would also need to know if I find something, if you
want photo copies of those pages. Our library charges .25 per page and that is
all I would ask of you.
If anyone is interested, please reply to me direct.
Betty Gregory BGreg3116(a)aoo.com
After reading some of the posts, it would appear that not all CLARY
researchers are aware of the book "Clary Genealogy - Four Early American
Lines and Related Families" by Ralph Shearer Rowland and Star Wilson
Rowland.
There is a lot of information in this book on many Clary's and would
probably be a good starting point for genealogical research on the CLARY
line. Unfortunately, the book was being sold by the authors who have
since died and to my knowledge never distibuted to any libraries. A
CLARY researcher must therefore find someone with the book to obtain
information. It was copyrighted in 1980 and its Library of Congress
Catalog Card No. is 80-54651.
The book is very delicate since it has a paper cover and easily comes
apart after minimal use. There are 588 pages in the book.

Searching further info on the family of Mary Cleary (1799-1855), first wife
of Captain Daniel L. Williams. Mary was born abt. 1799 at or near Mooncoin
or Ballystarsny, Barony of Iverk, South Kilkenny, Ireland. She came to
Canada abt. 1820 with a brother, Michael Cleary. The Cleary's were a family
of weavers in Ireland. Michael Cleary lived for some time in New Brunswick
and then came to Templeton, Quebec.
Mary Cleary married at Grenville, Quebec to Captain Williams in 1824 or
1825. She died at East Templeton, Quebec, August 3, 1855, aged 56 years.
She was interred at the Roman Catholic Cemetery at Gatineau Pointe, Quebec.
Michael Cleary married Sarah Heenan.
Anyone who may be related, or perhaps might have further information on this
family, please email Debbie at MADPRINCE(a)msn.com
To Col. Daniel CLARY Researchers:
First let me make a correction to an earlier e-mail. Genevieve Broome
JONES (1900-1985) wrote Children, Meet Your Ancestors. I looked at the wrong
line of the material I was typing from. It was late at night & I am not a
good typist! So sorry!
I have had a few requests for the rest of the Col. Daniel CLARY
information I have from this book-I will try to send it out. Pg. 141-142.
"A CLARY descendent, Roy CLARY, formerly of Newberry, owns a Bible that
was once owned by Eleanor CLARY SUMMERS, and later by her daughter Mary
SUMMERS CHAPMAN. The Bible was printed in Scotland in 1752, yet the earliest
entry in it begins with a birth in 1735 showing that it was not made at the
time the birth occurred, yet obviously copied from some earlier book. The
record says:
Ruth CLARY, born 10 April 1735
William, 22 March 1736
Eleanor, 27 March 1738
Elizabeth, 11 January 1740
Mary, 23 March 1742
Levine, 3 March 1744
Sarah, 2 March 1746
Daniel, 7 January 1748
Kasandra, 7 April 1752
Vachel, 18 November 1755
Basil, 25 December 1756
Linny 12 July 1761
Since Daniel CLARY seems to still be in Maryland until 1773, we see that all
the children were born there. We do not know how many lived to maturity or
how many came south with their parents. Only the youngest four were under
twenty-one, and minors in 1773. We do know that Eleanor who had married
Joseph Summers came south about 1774 with several of their young children, and
we know that Daniel, Jr., Kassandra, and Vachel also were in South Carolina.
Kassandra married Timothy Thomas in Maryland probably, but she and her husband
are buried in Newberry(SC). Daniel Jr., Fanny Wills of Newberry, and Vachel
apparently married twice, the second time to widow Brooks. He died in Alabama
but his estate was administered also in Abbeville District (SC) by his wife
Sarah. (Abstracts of Old Ninety-Six. P54)
Back to the Bible. Here are some births that make one think that the Bible
passed from relative to relative for a time:
Ann CLARY, daughter of Daniel and Fanny CLARY, born 15 Dec. 1775
(Dan, Jr. and Fanny Wills)
Dorcus Summers, born 22 July 1779
Cassandra Thomas, born 24 Mar. 1827 (Granddaughter of Kassandra
CLARY and Timothy Thomas?) "

Ladies and Gentlemen:
I am new to the system that you have here, so bear with me if I am
doing something wrong.
I am looking for information to get a better start on my Cleary/Clary
line.
My grandfather was listed as Elva N Cleary in the census. His father
was listed previously as Ellis Clary.
Are either of these names familiar to anyone?
Thank-you,

Nancy, what is your husband's Clary line? Mine is Col. Daniel, Eleanor
Summers, Mary Summers, Daniel B. Chapman, Elizabeth Cummings Chapman, Andrew
Malone Hill, and my grandmother, Mattie Pauline Hill.
I wonder if either you or Joan has checked the Draper Manuscripts for SC for
interviews relating to Col. Daniel Clary? The references to him in _King's
Mountain Heroes_ (I believe is the title) by Lyman C. Draper leads me to
believe there were interviews with Col. Daniel's neighbors that would be of
interest. Checking that is on my "to do" list.
Nice to meet so many cousins!
