I was at the Jennings County Health Department today looking for a death record and noticed this grouping of folks by the name of Clarktson. All from one family died in February of 1885 of measles. They lived in Lovett, Township.
I am relatively sure the name should be spelled Clarkson rather than Clarkston as it was in the book.
Clarktson Infant, died Feb. 18, 1885 parents John Clarkston & Sarah Pagett
Sarah Clarkston, died Feb. 19, 1885, father Pagett mothers name not given
Mary Clarkston, died Feb. 25, 1885 parents John Clarkston & Sarah Pagett
Later in 1885 George Clarkston age 47 a Farmer died of Flux-Blood Poison, on Aug. 21, 1885
These were all in the year range that is outside of the census records and with the name being spelled Clarkston instead of Clarkson I thought someone might be able to use this information.

Hello Gloria,
I am also a descendant of James Clarkson. Has the mystery of your Thomas and my James's parentage been solved? I thought perhaps DNA tests may have been helpful or new information may have been found.

If you are interested in the descendants of Thomas and Ellender Nellie (Feathers) Clarkston, then I have wonderful news to share with you all. In the past 35 years of intensive Clarkston research, I have always been aware there were 11 children born into this family, but position 6 (derived from the pre-1850 census records, indicated there was an as yet, unidentified female. As of last night, (1 August 2010) a team of about 6 of us, using the new Family Finder DNA tests, have finally placed the last missing Clarkston Female. It is Elizabeth 'Betsy' Clark, 2nd wife of Isaac Milton Huff. We have been working on this one for over 35 years and this DNA test really broke it all open. I am sure Elton will soon be compiling and publishing a full analysis, illustrating the methods we used and how we all arrived at that conclusion. It was exciting. May seem like a small thing to all of you, but when you've been working on it for 35 years, it gets to be a BIG thing. !!!

So where is Betsy from? I have one of the sons of James CLARKSON b 1749
died 1824 Essex County -- Peter Thomas or Thomas Peter married to Elizabeth
Clarke, daughter of Charles Clarke. This Charles has a will Essex Co Deed
BK43, page 445 in Essex County dated 16 Mar 1831. These CLARKSONs were
listed in the 1830 census with four young females.
I think your DNA line matches my brother's who stems from that Peter>James
from Blackley, Lancashire, England, if I remember right?? Mary in South
Dakota
