Ireland is a beautiful country I have lived here since 1981. I am in the North in Belfast. I love it here but love going to Scotland for research. I used to live in N Tonawanda New York and love the USA. I left there when I was 12 but was born in Scotland so I feel sorry for any future generation trying to track down my family!! We also lived in South Africa! I am not a paid member of ancestry so I can't private message you. My email is hewitt_jacqueline at hotmail.com if you want to get in touch that way. I really think that this Andrew is the Andrew in my tree it is just a matter of finding out who is parents are to prove it although I think the passenger list pretty much tells me what I want to know.

I will put the marriage certificate in a PDF and send it to you...if I can figure it out.

I meant to ask if you want the marriage of Margaret or do you want to wait and see if she is actually part of your tree first?

I would love the information about Andrew's marriage and any information about his brother. You said you only think that they are brothers so that might be worth trying to prove. If they are brothers then that means that Margaret is their sister and they would all be part of my tree. I go to Scotland a lot as I live in N Ireland. My purpose this time is to do as much Family history as I can in one week! Now that I have another Scottish line to follow it will make it all the more interesting. I am originally from Scotland and was born not too far away from Airdrie. I have been to Airdrie quite a few times and have spent time searching the graveyards for my Cowie line with a bit of success. I look forward to hearing from you.

fantastic about the Scotland trip. We went a few years back, wish I could go again! One of my very favorite places on the planet. I have something about Andrew's marriage if you would like it for your records. I am going to be going to Louisville in a few weeks. I am going to meet with a lady from the museum. John Clarkson was a saloonkeeper, and my husband's gg-grandfather, we are very interested in him, his line of work, and of course SCOTLAND!

It does look as if this is the Andrew Clarkson that is in my family tree. According to 1900 US Census Andrew came to the USA in 1880. He had a sister called Margaret born 18 Mar 1858 in Airdrie, Lanark County, Scotland. She married John Dunlevie and they had 12 children. John and Margaret left Scotland and sailed to USA with 3 of their children in 1906 to stay with their brother-in-law (Margaret's brother) in Louisville, Colorado. I have Margaret's parents as Hugh Clarkson and Mary Sharp although I don't think her mother's name was Mary Sharp as I think their was an error on John Dunlevie and Margaret Clarkson's marriage certificate. John Dunlevie's mother was also called Mary Sharp and that is why I think has been an error on the marriage certificate.
The family came from Airdrie in the County of Lanark in Scotland. I am going to further my research when I make a trip to Scotland in the summer. I would love to share any certificates I have with anything you have. My connection to the family happens when John & Margaret's daughter Jeanie Clarkston Dunlevie marries into my Cowie line. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Mary
Thanks for the new link... much improved info... but.. no go.
Bobbi and I have communicated over the years on these things.. but not recently. I think you and I posted a couple of things also.
This new FtDNA FF is quite something. I have 9 5 th cousins now, and about half link back to a Clarkson in the Welsh/ British area of Scotland ( Strathclyde) so I think this is my "origin"... just no paper trail to link it. My link seems to be the CLARKSON family of Woodbridge and Somersey New Jersey.... just down the road. I think I am re re re cycled Loyalist !

Yes, thanks, I am that list... but I don't see this rather large family in NJ listed anywhere, as originating in Lanarkshire OR NJ...I have e mailed that families web site, but no response. I might be the skeleton in their closet :-)

So far I have not run across a Mary. We have John Ernest (I believe) Clarkson, born in Scotland 1858, he married Eleanor (Ellen) Chatten. They are both buried in the Louisville Colorado cemetary. I have made contact with the musuem in Louisville, and they seem to think that Andrew Clarkson, who lived in Louisville was some how related. Andrew was a miner in Louisville, and John was a saloonkeeper. So far, I have not seen any ties to any other states, but I have just started my journey with the Clarkson's. I do have a marriage license with Andrew Clarkson and Pricella Hutchinson.

According to the Louisville (Co) museum, Andrew Clarkson, her father, John Clarkson was somehow related to Andrew. We believe brothers. John is our direct line. I do have some facts of Andrew if you would like to know. To the best of my knowledge he was a silver deligate for the town of Louisville. #19 to be precise. He was a miner as well.
I would love to know if you have any background on Andrew? or his hometown in Scotland.
