Does John Clarkson 1938 have a place of birth, and what is the day of
birth. That would be a good start to include, when asking for assistance!
Let us know.

Because I had time this morning, I ran the census records. Benjamin Franklin Clarkson was consistent with his own birthplace of MO. As mentioned earlier, his father's birthplace changes from census to census.
1850- John Jr was born in KY.
1880- Benjamin's father's bp is not listed.
1900- Benjamin's father's bp is MO
1910- Benjamin's father's bp is VA
1920- Benjamin's father's bp is KY
1930- Benjamin's father's bp is MO
I think that they didn't really know. Personally, I think John and Flora's submission of KY seems more likely to be correct.

There was also a Benjamin Franklin Clarkson, born abt 1833 in Lee Co. VA. His father was Thomas Clarks(t)on, b abt 1787, and Mother, Nellie Feathers. There is an indication of an earlier genetic connection with my John Clarkson, b 1780 VA. No connection with William Clarkson/Claxton whose wife was Barbary (Barbara?) who lived in Shelby Co. KY at the same time as my John Clarkson married Mary Webb.
I suspect there were others with the name Benjamin Franklin Clarks(t)on.
If any of you have a male Clarkson/Clarkston/ Clark who could donate DNA, please encourage them to do so.

Since John W Clarkson was born in 1830, and Littleton Clarkson was b 1832 in Cooper Co, MO, I believe that this household contains William & Susannah Clarkson who were married in 1828, Washington Co. /Rives Co., MO.

As of Dec. 2006, DNA tests (37 markers) indicate a common ancestor with a Thomas Clarkston, born 1787 VA, but no commonality with a descendant of the older William Clarkson/Claxton who was also in Shelby Co. KY in 1810.

Benjamin F. Clarkson's grandfather (John Clarkson Sr b abt 1780 in VA ) did not die in TN. John Clarkson Sr died in Rives Co. MO in 1838. (His wife Mary Webb died in Lamar Co. TX after the 1870 census.) I do not know where John Clarkson Jr died. He was the one married to Flora Wayne Puckett. Perhaps he was traveling? If someone has a record of his being in Rutherford Co. TN, that would be interesting. We may be dealing with people who have the same names.
A descendant of John Clarkson Sr has had his dna tested.

Additional Information regarding the last post:
According to the 1910 Census listed, the father of Benjamin Franklin Clarkson was born in Virginia, and His mother, was born in Tn. which DOES NOT match up with the many trees on ancestry.com.
Perhaps two will be better than one, researching this line will come up with the true history of this family.

This is where I am at on the research, and it is not documented by dna, just speculation, according to the geneology online available.
John Clarkson, b 1789 ,Virginia
d. 1829 15 Jan 1829
Rutherford,,Tennessee,USA
MARRIED TO
Mary Webb
1788-1870
None of this really matches when I follow the documentable events, with birth ,death, marriage records....
The lineage that I am wanting to follow and document with factual information[ not speculation]is as follows starting with
Homer Clarkson 1896 , Mo. who is the son of
Preston Clarkson 1871,Mo. who is the son of
Benjamin Clarkson 1847, Mo. who in this listed census,
Census > U.S. Census > 1850 United States Federal Census > Missouri > St Clair > District 79, is 4 years old.
I am unable to determine the town, but it looks like Liering [?]
